About the Role:
Our Risk and Compliance teams are a cornerstone of our business and we are looking for an experienced Compliance Analyst to ensure we follow internal policies, local jurisdiction financial service laws, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
As an online money transmitter, Remitly is growing while maintaining high customer service, performance and compliance standards. Remitly is a licensed financial services company in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, and Ireland. Each of these jurisdictions requires, among other items, that Remitly maintain a comprehensive Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing program. The Compliance Analyst will help detect suspicious transactions and auditing risk processes.
The ideal applicant for this role will have previous work experience in the online financial services industry and will be. This role can be performed in-person in Seattle or remote from within the United States.
You Will:
Report to the Compliance Team Manager within the customer operations team. You will investigate unusual activity and file regulatory reports as identified and work with internal tools teams to systematically eliminate unwanted activity from the Remitly platform.
Specific Responsibilities:

You will work within a compliance focused function within the customer operations team. This function will review unusual activity within customer profiles that may be related to money laundering or fraud. These investigations may lead to regulatory filings.

You will work with the compliance organization at Remitly regarding these investigations.

Identify customer-related trends, patterns and issues associated with money laundering, terrorist financing and other unwanted and fraudulent transaction activity.

Evaluate internal reports and related filters to confirm Remitly is monitoring its customer base for compliance with the terms of its user agreement and regulatory requirements.

Ensure the Anti-Money Laundering policies and procedures are always complied with.

Review referrals from other sources such as the law enforcement or other financial institutions.

Learn and share knowledge in a global team environment

Assist your manager with projects on an ad-hoc basis

Identify potential gaps within the program and assist with remediation/ improvement projects.

Other ad hoc duties as required
You Have:
-
1- 2 years of experience investigating unusual activity and filing of regulatory reports related to AML, CTF, Fraud Investigations.

Substantive knowledge of AML and fraud regulations and related typologies within the fintech industry.

Experience in identifying and analysing patterns in transactional behaviour and determining if regulatory reporting is required.

Experience in identifying unusual patterns of activity and escalating for potential risk mitigation.

Experience working in a compliance driven environment while ensuring a positive customer experience.

Experience in contributing to operational compliance programs.

Direct experience in either fintech or financial industries.

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $57,592-$71,990. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
