Computational Technical Intern – Entry Level!

The Applied Electromagnetics Division of Applied Research Associates, Inc., in Cypress, CA is seeking a driven, detail oriented, entry-level technical intern to work with our team of software developers and engineers developing computational multiphysics tools. Our interns are valued members of the team tasked with work that is critical to the success of our projects. Tasks include data analysis, CAD model development, code modification, validation and verification exercises, automation of testing processes, and much more.

What you’ll do as a Computational Technical Intern

  • Develop 3D CAD models and meshes suitable for computational electromagnetics (CEM) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
  • Assist with software development and testing.
  • Possibly work up to 40 hours a week during summer and school holidays; reduce to 10-30 hours/week once school resumes or when work and intern are available.

Requirements for the Computational Technical Intern:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong foundation of high school mathematics and physics
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and organized with a strong work ethic
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to manage independent tasks and/or projects.
  • Ability to:
    • Communicate effectively (both verbal and written)
    • Think critically and pay acute attention to details.
    • Build relationships and work collaboratively with team members.
    • Work independently and take ownership of individual tasks.

Preferences for the Computational Technical Intern:

  • College-level mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, or computer science.
