Interface is looking for a paid full-time summer Design Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate will work 40 hours per week over the summer semester, structured around school requirements and related deadlines, with most work being performed during standard business hours. Position summary:
The full time Concept Design Intern is responsible for providing support to the Interface Design Studio through a variety of channels. This position will assist with the Concept Design team to complete given tasks, while gaining a basic understanding of workflow and deliverables provided by the Interface Design Studio.
Essentials Functions:
Assist the Concept Design team with preparing images and floor plans for digital renderings
Create both 2D and 3D digital installs
Assist the Concept Design team with printing and shipping deliverables for sales and customers
Comply with safety rules
Comply with environmental regulations
Learn and understand Interface’s commitment to sustainability
Educational requirements:
Junior or Senior college student working towards college degree in related field
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Design major or current enrollment in a related program
A strong portfolio of current work demonstrating a wide range of projects and skills
A developed and refined design aesthetic
Highly organized, creative, dependable and detail-oriented
Able to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Able to communicate well with others and maintain a professional demeanor
Able to work effectively both independently and as part of cross-functional teams
Punctual and able to maintain focus while working in an open office environment
Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration
Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and InDesign
Knowledge of AutoCad and reading floorplans a plus
Microsoft Office Suite/Outlook experience a plus
Interest in commercial interiors and other adjacent industries (flooring, furniture, lighting, textiles, etc.)
