Chief Financial Officer Job DescriptionCompany: Mid-sized plaintiff law firm with 80 employeesLocation: Dallas, TexasReports To: Managing PartnerDuties & Responsibilities:Responsible for the overall accounting and financial aspects of the Firm, including accounting, treasury, budgeting & forecasting, audit, tax, and risk managementEnsure compliance with all accounting-related laws, trust accounting regulations, third-party lenders and financing partners, and Firm policiesProvide strategic recommendations to the Managing Partner and executive management team on long-term business and financial planning initiatives and impactsWork with the Managing Partner to keep track of the Firm’s projected net fees and case expenses and the estimated timing of settlements and paymentsMonitor and manage company cash flowPrepare, execute, and monitor the company budgets and forecastsManage the company’s external consultants and processes related to audit, taxes, insurance, and risk managementPrepare all financial reports as necessary for analysis and comply with internal and external reporting requirements, including borrowing base calculationsWork with others at the Firm to estimate/underwrite new case marketing ROI for underwriting purposes prior to making marketing investmentsTrack and report the Firm’s actual new case marketing ROI across many segmentations and compare with underwriting estimatesLead regular communication (after the Managing Partner) with third-party lenders and financing partnersAssess and evaluate the financial performance of the organization with regards to long-term operational and financial goalsMonitor spending throughout the year and confer with appropriate personnel regarding discrepancies or variances with various vendors and clientsSupervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems and workflows.Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial reports and review with Firm leadershipReview spending in all respects and suggest potential changes to cut costsOversee payrollSupervise the Firm’s settlement processes where a settlement statement is sent to each client along with their portion of the gross settlements from settled cases (volume is thousands per year on average) and accounts payablePerforms other duties as assignedQualifications:BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field; MS/MBA is a plus. CPA is a strong advantageAn ideal applicant will have a CPA or MBA with at least 15+ years of accounting/finance experience and 5+ years of experience in a CFO-type capacityPrevious experience of managing the finances of a law firm or other services business (preferred but not required)Experience in DACA (Deposit Account Control Agreement) preferred13-week cash flow experience preferredProven experience in managing the accounting processes for multiple entities with intercompany transactionsIn-depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practicesExperience in complying with third-party loan documentsExcellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methodsProficient in the use of MS Office and enterprise-level accounting/financial management software (e.g. Intacct (Existing System/Preferred), NetSuite (Next Best), SAP, Microsoft, Other Sage, or other enterprise-level accounting software)Experience with Salesforce or another enterprise-level CRM software system preferredExperience with HR, payroll, and other systemsAbility to strategize and solve problemsStrong leadership and organizational skillsExcellent communication and people skillsAn analytical mind that is comfortable with numbers (accounting and financial concepts)CompensationSalary Range of $250,000 and above depending on experience levelBonus Structure: TBD depending on Experience Level and Salary will include KPIs tied to financial improvement of business including debt managementRelocationProvided for selected candidate outside the greater Dallas metro market.BenefitsChoose from 4 different medical plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas:1.
