About Us:We are a mid-sized property management company that oversees a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Bookkeeper/Controller to join our team. This person must be bilingual and fluent in Spanish because most of the colleagues they will be working with are Spanish speaking.Job Description:As a Senior Bookkeeper/Controller, you will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the financial operations of our property management, construction, and personal finances. You will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, maintain compliance with accounting standards, and provide strategic financial insights to support business decisions. This position requires a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive professional with extensive experience in bookkeeping and accounting within the real estate or property management sector.Key Responsibilities:· Financial Management:o Oversee daily accounting operations, including the monitoring and analysis of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and maintenance of the general ledger for a variety of different entities..o Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.o Reconcile bank statements and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.· Budgeting and Forecasting:o Assist in the preparation and management of annual budgets and forecasts.o Monitor and analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.· Compliance and Reporting:o Ensure compliance with GAAP, state agencies such as HMFA for affordable housing compliance, tax regulations, and internal financial policies.o Coordinate and support annual audits and tax filings, liaising with external auditors and tax advisors.· Property Management Accounting:o Manage accounting for multiple properties, including rent rolls, tenant billing, and lease administration.o Handle CAM reconciliations and ensure accurate allocation of expenses to properties.· Systems and Process Improvement:o Implement and maintain accounting systems and software to streamline processes and improve efficiency.o Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance financial controls and reporting accuracy.· Team Leadership:o Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.o Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.Qualifications:· Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior bookkeeping or accounting role within the property management industry.· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Appfolio, Realpage) and advanced Excel skills.· Strong understanding of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.· Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.· Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.· Good written and oral communication skills· To be flexible and willing to work overtime as necessary when required.· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is not required but preferredJob Type: Full-timePay: $60,000.00 - $105,000.00 per yearBenefits:• Paid sick time• Paid time offPhysical Setting:• OfficeSchedule:• Monday to FridaySupplemental Pay:• Yearly bonusApplication Question(s):• Are you currently employed elsewhere?Language:• Spanish (Required)Work Location: In person
