Role summary
- Oversee financial reporting for the Consulting vertical, in order to drive improvements in business performance
- Oversee statutory and tax compliance in the SA and US legal entities
- Contribute to the control environment of the group
Role responsibilities:
Own the process mapping for these 2 processes within this SOP:
- Contract to cash (Unbundled), supported by the Finance Business Partner
- Record to Report (Unbundled)
In terms of Revenue and Accounts Receivable, perform the following tasks:
- Design and execute a structured approach to review the information in OpenAir / Kantata that drive revenue recognition and revenue forecasting on an ongoing basis
- Develop and drive reporting analytics in the Unbundled vertical
- Report weekly variances i.t.o revenue (actual vs plan) to the FD and Exco
- Oversee the continuous invoicing process and handle related customer invoice queries
- Manage the collections process for outstanding invoices
- Oversee the cash flow forecasting process and present to the FD for review
- Support the ADs with client onboarding where needed
In terms of monthly financial reporting, perform the following tasks:
- Confirms the completeness of revenue recognition, by reconciling the past and future revenue to total contract value
- Review, reconcile and submit the Unbundled payroll cost (and relevant payroll journals) to the FD for final approval on their due dates
- Review pertinent balance sheet accounts (deferred revenue, direct cost accruals and salary related I/S and B/S accounts) and submit these to the FD for approval
- Prepare relevant sections of the monthly management accounts, investigate significant variances between actual and plan (as directed by the FD) to ensure timely submission to OES
In terms of statutory and tax compliance, perform the following tasks:
- Maintain the compliance calendar to ensure all deadlines are communicated to the team
- Prepare monthly SA VAT returns for approval by the FD and ensure timely submission and payment
- Perform bi-annual transfer pricing calculations and present to the FD for approval and ensure timely and accurate recording of these transactions
- Prepare bi-annual income tax returns (for both SA and US) for approval to the FD and ensure timely submission and payment
- Prepare bi-annual employee tax returns (for both SA and US) for approval to the FD and ensure timely submission
- Liaise with auditors and advisors to ensure timely submissions required in terms of statutory compliance for US and SA entities
Perform the following ad hoc tasks:
- Support the FD with contract reviews of major customers and vendors
- Support the team during the forecasting and budgeting process as directed by the FD
- Identify deviations to controls and processes contained within this SOP
- Propose improvements to the control environment to ensure the integrity of financial information – i.e. completeness, accuracy and validity of information
- Advise and coach HODs and profit centre owners on control improvements
- Through outsourced partnerships, keep abreast of new legislation and regulatory rulings influencing payroll and reporting requirements.
- At least BCom Accounting Degree plus articles; CA(SA) is advantageous
- At least 6 years experience in financial and management accounting in a corporate environment; multi-currency and consulting (business services) experience is advantageous
- Extensive experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle or similar)
- Experience with group reporting; international tax compliance experience is advantageous
- Experience managing a small finance team
- Have an analytical and problem-solving mindset with an ability to generate clear, well presented and accurate insight
- Good communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle conflict and work under pressure
