Controller (Manufacturing Company)

We're seeking a Controller to become a permanent member of our client's team in Irvine! Our client manufactures various equipment and products for the military.

The Controller will be responsible for financial operations, with a heavy emphasis in the manufacturing accounting processes and general accounting overall. You will assist the CFO in improving efficiencies and reducing costs through effective budgeting and analysis. You will implement and improve accounting policies and procedures and internal controls. This position is fully on-site Monday through Friday.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages accounting department, ensuring timely and accurate posting and reporting of business financial activities
• Prepares and reviews monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, and presents to CFO in clear, concise manner
• Lead financial audits, quarterly reviews and tax return preparation with external auditors
• Advises management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities
• Prepare monthly journal entries and financial statements and provide analysis of variances to prior periods and budgets
• Provide leadership and direction in investigating and understanding all major manufacturing variances to ensure timely, actionable information to management
• Provide analytical support to report operational results in a manner which meets management's need to make timely decisions including results which are explained in terms of the facilities planned goals and objectives
• Lead periodic physical inventory counts and cycle counts
• Direct and oversee accounting and purchasing activities to include: payroll, monthly accounting close, inventory reconciliation and verification, and cost accounting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required
• 5+ years of Controller experience for a private manufacturing company (required)
• CPA is highly desired
• Experience with full audits, insurance coverage, budgeting
• Strong leadership and communication is a MUST
• MS Excel advanced functions (Pivot Tables, Lookups etc.)
• Epicor ERP preferred
