The County of San Diego has a current opening for Information Technology Principal. Interviews will be held the week of July 30, 2024 and job offers will be made once all interviews are complete... Information Technology (IT) Principals perform activities related to the administration, implementation, modification, and maintenance of multiple modules within a department’s systems. This position serves as a technical expert for the department’s systems and major technology functions and/or operations, including overall application technology analysis and support, project management, and/or systems infrastructure. Some positions may direct and manage all major technology functions and/or operations within a department, including strategic planning and budget oversight. IT Principals oversee highly complex technology matters with duties that include providing technical expertise regarding software needs, evaluating proposed solutions, and performing systems integration and solutions implementation. This position serves as the technology lead over large business analysis projects; develops and monitors project budgets and resources; interfaces with clients to define project scope and review project activities, recommendations and outcomes; coordinates the use of project resources based on project requirements; and designs and implements project testing and quality assurance processes. The current vacancy is in the County Technology Office (CTO), however other departments may use the list established from this recruitment as vacancies occur. The position in CTO will oversee the Board of Supervisors’ IT support and assist with enterprise Service Delivery, Security and Program Management. HIRING TIMELINE & DATES The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below. • Job Offer and Background Process: Will begin shortly after the interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening. • Pre-employment Medical Screening: Will begin approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results. • Anticipated Start Date: Will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science, information systems or a closely related field that has provided the candidate with a sound conceptual understanding of information technology concepts; AND, • Four (4) years of information technology work experience performing business systems analysis, applications development, systems analysis, or network engineering, analysis and/or administration. Note: Additional years of directly related, verifiable experience or IT coursework may be substituted for the education/experience requirements on a year for year basis.
