Bryn Mawr College has an opening for a Creative Director.

THE POSITION

The Office of College Communications tells the story of Bryn Mawr College—clearly, consistently, and compellingly—to a variety of audiences. The mission of the communications office is to promote awareness and recognition of Bryn Mawr College and its community of student scholars, faculty, staff, and alumnae/i.

The Creative Director, reporting to the Chief Communications Officer (CCO), is a key role. It is responsible for elevating and bringing Bryn Mawr’s brand vision to life through creative executions that build brand awareness of the College and celebrate its impact. The Creative Director envisions, designs, and produces digital and print materials, moving them from concept to completion. This position also manages the Creative Services unit, which provides campuswide support for a variety of constituents with visual design, photography, and videography. In the 2023-24 academic year, the Creative Director will co-lead the execution of a new comprehensive branding project with the CCO and an external creative firm to deliver a new visual identity and strategic messaging platform. They will also create and manage the deployment of brand rollout strategy to engage internal and external audiences and provide guidance to faculty and staff on branding and graphic design best practices.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Minimum of seven years communications/publications experience and demonstrated experience planning and executing complex communications efforts. Excellent design skills and understanding of clear visual communications for creating impactful products that meet WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud is required. Familiarity with various printing methods (offset, web, digital) and techniques, types of paper stocks, coatings, and inks. Experience organizing and directing professional shoots, directing illustrators, artists, and other creatives from concept to sketches to final art. Experience building and managing all aspects of creative design for a brand. Design experience in a non-profit setting, especially in higher education, is preferred, as is an understanding of the Gen-Z audience. Knowledge of web communications and social media is preferred.
