Description of Work Unit
Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Located an hour north of the Denver metro area, Fort Collins is a vibrant community of approximately 157,000 residents that offers the convenience of a small town with all the amenities of a large city. Fort Collins is situated on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains with views of 14,000 foot peaks, and offers access to numerous cultural, recreational, and outdoor opportunities.

The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition has 32 faculty and adjunct members and 23 research associates and administrative staff, ~600 undergraduate students and offers undergraduate degrees in Nutrition and Food Science, Hospitality Management and Fermentation Science and Technology. The department also offers MS and PhD degrees in Nutrition Science, Community Nutrition and Food Science and Safety and currently has ~75 graduate students. Department research is supported by federal grants from NIH, USDA, foundations, industry and two endowments that support a faculty chair and the Lillian Fountain-Smith Nutrition Conference hosted by the department. Research has focused on childhood obesity, community nutrition among limited resource audiences, molecular and metabolic nutrition targeted at chronic disease prevention, bioactive food components, and food safety. The department’s Extension faculty is responsible for numerous creative, high impact educational and engagement programs throughout the state, including the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). This work unit exists to conduct applied research and provide nutrition education in Colorado to families with limited resources; to assist these families in acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and changed-behavior necessary for nutritionally sound diets, and to contribute to their personal development and the improvement of the total family diet and nutritional well-being.

Position Summary
The Curriculum Technology and Customer Support Lead is a 40 hour a week position that reports to the EFNEP Office Manager. The office manager will provide guidance; however this is a self-directed position that requires prioritization of projects and self-management.

  • A primary function of this position is to manage inventory. This includes monitoring orders and reports to prevent stock shortages, ordering new materials, communicating with suppliers, and coordinating with our warehouse.
  • In addition to this, the person in this position must analyze cost and sales data to make decisions regarding the curriculum, such as pricing and discontinuation of items.
