Description of Work Unit
Provide administrative, management & professional services to facilitate and accomplish new construction, renovation, and/or replacement of the physical facilities and infrastructure of the campus in support of the University’s mission and strategic plan.

Position Summary
The position will exist primarily to develop interior design solutions for specific projects in coordination with and under the guidance of project manager and design supervisor. Collaborate on conceptual, schematic and design development. Coordinate with in-house design team as well as specialty outside consultants, to achieve overall project objectives. Provide preliminary and construction drawings and renderings for design development and budget opinions. Assist in developing code compliant construction drawings to be used by trades groups and contractors for various remodel and construction projects. Assist project manages with furniture specifications and space planning. Work with vendors to place and track furniture orders. Update and manage sample library.

Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate in the application materials:
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Four years of interior architectural design experience.

Preferred Qualifications
The highly desired candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, personal characteristics, and experience directly related and critical to this position:
  • AutoCAD, Revit and SketchUp proficient.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
  • Rendering experience.
  • Must have excellent drafting, graphic, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate experience in selecting interior details, materials, color selections, furniture and furnishings selections, space planning and detailing
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail.
  • Eagerness to train and mentor interior design student interns.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adjust to changing work demands, priorities and routines.
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
  • Directly related state service experience

Position physically inspects potential project locations, takes pictures, measurements and applies this information to create new construction drawings. Verifies accuracy of physical location information on existing drawings.
Verify field measurements with current floor plans. Verify mechanical, electrical and equipment location with current floor plans.
Modify current plans as needed to show actual field conditions.
