Custodial/Maintenance Technician
Pay: $18.00-19.00 per hour
SUMMARY
This position performs custodial and maintenance duties in and around the Tedder Industries manufacturing building and grounds. The position is also responsible for performing minor repairs, light construction, and responding to emergency calls for service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, buffing, and vacuuming.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
- Clean and polish furniture, counter tops, tables, etc.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Mix water and cleaning chemicals in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications and regulations of each cleaning product.
- Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
- Perform a variety of maintenance/minor repair activities on the interior/exterior areas of the facilities including, but not limited to: painting, drywall, structural elements, including parking lot and sidewalks, plumbing repairs, clearing drain stoppages, interior and exterior lighting repair
- Perform exterior grounds upkeep.
- Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Must be over age 18.
- Must have experience with tools, ability to discern the correct tool for the job
- Must have 1 year proven construction/facility maintenance experience
- Certification(s) for or in construction or facility maintenance highly desired
- Must have at least 1year of janitorial experience.

TEAMWORK:
To be successful at the position of Custodial/Maintenance Technician, attendance and attention to detail is important. To efficiently operate the business and maintain Company standards, employees are expected to be present for work, on time for every scheduled shift. Late arrivals, early departures, or other absences are disruptive and frequently cause hardship for fellow employees. REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out basic oral or written instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, work orders, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write basic-correspondence.
CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS
Minimal customer interaction is required from this position. Ability to perform duties is limited to ability to interact respectfully with co-workers and to give and receive instructions
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate basic figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
- This position is required to work from one to four 10-hour shifts per week depending on schedule.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job:
- The employee frequently is required to stand for 10-hour shifts with a minimum of a 15-minute break every 2-hours.
- This position consistently uses hands to handle, feel, assemble, disassemble, and operate machinery.
- This position is regularly required to talk or hear for communication and safety.
- The employee in this position is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms, occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch.
- The vision required for the essential functions of this position requires the ability to focus, and identify and distinguish colors for the close attention to detail required for this position. This position requires eye sight that can see details in small parts and for observing quality control and following SOPs.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position works in a clean environment that occasionally has airborne particles or fumes, and frequently be working near moving mechanical parts.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud due to the tools and machines, consistent with a production environment.
- Occasionally this position may work with equipment that has a risk of electric shock or vibration.
SAFETY
- All employees are required to report any safety concerns and encourage the safety of others.
- All employees who enter the Production Area must wear certified safety glasses or over the glasses safety glasses if you wear glasses and they are not safety rated.
- Safety training and following safety policies and procedures at each work station is required.
- No open-toed shoes are allowed in the Production area past the yellow line, for any employees.
