Works on the Illinois Violent Death Reporting System (IVDRS) and State Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System (SUDORS) projects as a data abstractor. These projects are part of the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS) and Overdose Data to Action (OD2A), funded by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). Reviews documents containing sensitive and at times graphic information depicting violent deaths and overdose deaths. Makes coding decisions based on CDC manuals and guidelines. Will require identity verification and CDC clearance in order to access web-based software for data collection. Must be detail-oriented and able to work well both independently and as part of a team. Collaborates with data partners throughout the state.
