Job Summary

As a Data Center Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our organization's data centers. Your main responsibility will be to maintain and troubleshoot the data center infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and other critical components. Your role will involve performing regular maintenance tasks such as hardware installation, server rack setup, cable management, and equipment upgrades.

Responsibilities

Installations

  • Racks and stacks customer equipment

  • Reads installation plans (Visio Drawings / Spreadsheets) and implements installation accordingly. Designs and leads cage / infrastructure modification projects

  • Installs circuits requiring sophisticated fiber terminations

Queue Management

  • Determines work priorities from the operations queue and ensures adherence to all commit times

Testing/Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoots switched / multiplexed / media converted circuits; and works with networking group, as needed.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques is critical, and experience with data center management tools and monitoring systems

Cross Connects

  • Installs/tests/modifies cross connects per SOPs and ensures accurate cable management of: coax, fiber, twisted pair copper, and intra-building cross connects

  • Installs and tests sophisticated cross connects circuits (switched, multiplexed, etc.)

Documentation/Reporting

  • Maintains detailed written records of all work activity

Customer Management

  • Clearly and effectively communicate with customers

  • Ability to collaborate with multi-functional teams

  • Supports customer satisfaction through timely and precise order execution

To excel in this role, you should have a good understanding of data center operations, including server hardware, networking technologies. A proactive mentality, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure are needed attributes for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years experience

  • High School Diploma

  • BERT and SONET test equipment preferred

  • Bilingual is a plus but not required
