Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the development and maintenance of the data warehouse models, extract, transfer, and load (ETL) code and Microsoft Power BI reports. In addition, the Data Engineer/Power BI Report Developer will be in charge of designing, coding, testing, debugging, moderately complex data warehouse models.

Job Duties / Essential Functions:

Model ethical behavior and execute job responsibilities in accordance with Citizen’s core values, ethics, and information protection policies.

• Plan, design, develop, modify, debug, and evaluate moderately complex data warehouse models, Business intelligence reports, extracts & ETL / ELT routines.
• Negotiate with stakeholders on the creation of Data models, Reports & ETL plans.
• Design and apply complex data transformations & effective programming security practices.
• Work with other Developers and Business Analysts to convert business requirements into ETL / ELT routines.
• Develop conversion and system implementation plans and regularly create and execute unit tests.
• Employ source code control techniques and assist with successful configuration management.
• Assist with implementation of changes in development, maintenance, and system standards and in the creation of software specifications. Interact with senior level internal personnel. Regularly report progress on projects. Provide on-call support. Assist end users on report related training and mentor junior team members.
• Develop queries for SQL database reporting.
• Interact with senior level internal personnel. May serve as technical lead for a software development project of moderate scope.
• Develop and maintain data warehouse models, ETLs and reports based on technical designs while adhering to best practices and standards.
• Negotiate with stakeholders on the creation of software specifications. Negotiate project plans with stakeholders.

Required Education and Experience:

Intermediate

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/ Information Technology or related field OR a combination of college education and relevant experience equivalent to 5-7 years.

Senior

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/ Information Technology or related field OR a combination of college education and relevant experience equivalent to 8-10 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 or more years of experience with Reports development and data engineering.
• 3 or more years of Data Warehouse experience with hands on experience in ETL.
• Good to have Python or similar programming experience.
• Application Packaging & Deployment experience.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or a comparable relational database
• Data Visualization/processing tools - Power BI is required.
• 4 or more years of experience in data management techniques utilizing SSIS, Azure Data Factory/ cloud-based data ingestion tools or any combination thereof.
• Knowledge of data architecture and cloud-based data engineering tools and design concepts - preferred.
• Demonstrated software repository skills.
• Knowledge or experience in Property & Casualty Insurance industry.
