We are looking for a Data Governance Analyst to support the (EDGE) Enterprise Data Governance & Enablement team.
The Data Governance Analyst will report to the Head of Data Governance and will provide insight into the value of the program and adoption of data governance processes. You will be the enterprise data catalog admin and own curation responsibilities for that environment. You will provide important insights on different aspects of Enterprise Data Governance, including Policy, Data Catalog, Data Usage, Data Costs, and Issue Resolution. Working with the Data Governance Manager and collaborating with teams, you will play an necessary part in assessing the program's value, gauging the effectiveness of programs, and promoting the use of data governance processes. Responsibilities
Maintain data catalog, ensure that policies, terms, lineage, and import of existing glossaries and all other curated data artifacts are up-to-date.
Help develop communication strategy for data governance including education, issue awareness, data quality successes, regulatory updates and policy reviews.
Gather and document quality and compliance reports and executive dashboard requirements needed to demonstrate success of the data governance program.
Organize meetings with partners to implement program guidance under the direction of the Data Governance Manager
Visualize and present important metrics to measure the success value of the Data Governance program
Partner with Quality teams to improve accuracy, completeness and timeliness of data required for decision-making across the organization by developing quality rules in data pipelines.
Monitor for compliance risks, audit deficiencies, and coverage of the Data Governance program and provide reports to help to improve program success.
Partner with Data Stewards on our processes, success metrics and help guide working groups and associated programs.
Document and implement current workflows, data policies, standards, and procedures for both legacy and new data environments.
Work with data analysts and engineers on data taxonomy, reference data management, and master data management.
Support the documentation and implementation of data quality policies, standards, and procedures for both legacy and new data environments.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in the data industry with knowledge of defining and implementing data governance best practices, documenting data flow & process mapping.
Bachelor's degree required in information science, data management, computer science or related field.
Experience with data analysis, reporting, and visualization in a data governance context.
Expertise in curating data, creating data models, and visualizing data using common tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar software.
Experience working with metadata and cataloging solutions - Alation experience.
Experience with Data Governance concepts like data cataloging, data lineage, data quality and policy creation.
Experience gathering data requirements and data quality rules
Experience with data platforms such as Snowflake, Looker, Airflow and cloud providers like AWS and Google
Experience as a data steward responsible for the metadata management, data quality, and measurements.
Experience working with regulatory compliance frameworks such as GDPR and CCPA
Role is located in Austin but can be remote.
