Overview:
HarperCollins Publishers is seeking an experienced Data Governance Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of our organization’s data governance framework. The ideal candidate should possess a solid understanding of data governance principles, data quality, and data management principles and be able to develop and implement data governance solutions that meet the organization’s needs. The incumbent will work closely with business stakeholders, data owners, application owners, and data custodians to develop and implement data management processes and standards and be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Works with data owners and custodians to develop and implement data governance processes, standards, and procedures.

Performs analysis to gain subject matter expertise for various data domains to document current data flows, identify data silos, data duplications, and inconsistencies, and recommend solutions for resolution.
- Leads the data governance committee(s) of various domains to align data definitions and maintain common schemas.

Collaborates with data owners and other cross-functional teams to document data inventory, definitions, and data mappings for integrations and data quality rules.

Works with various technology groups to implement governance solutions and standards, controls, and validations in various source applications.
- Develops and maintains data quality standards and metrics.

Monitors and ensures compliance with data governance policies and procedures.
- Provides training and support to stakeholders on data governance policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field

Minimum of 3 years of experience in data governance, business analysis, or related data field

Strong understanding of data modeling and database design with the ability to write and run complex SQL queries

Knowledge of metadata management tools and data catalogs for implementing governance policies and tracking data lineage, data ownership, and documenting glossary and definitions

Understanding data integration and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools for ensuring data consistency and integrity across different systems and applications

Familiarity with relevant technologies such as SQL Server, Big Query, Azure Synapse, Power BI among others

Experience in project management, business analysis, or a related field

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The salary range for this position is $75,000-$90,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
