Data Infrastructure and Devops Engineer

BlocPower is a clean energy leader creating smarter, greener, healthier buildings for all by reducing the barriers to money-saving, quality-of-life-improving green building upgrade. To further our mission, BlocPower is looking for a friendly, collaborative, affectionate Data Infrastructure and DevOps Engineer to join our growing team. This engineer will be responsible for expanding and maintaining our data infrastructure on the cloud. You should have a depth of experience building data infrastructure on the cloud using Terraform, and see yourself adding to as much as benefit from a supportive team environment.

The ideal candidate is someone who is self-directed, believes in our mission, and is an excellent written communicator.

Job Responsibilities

Design cloud infrastructure that is secure, scalable, and highly available on AWS
Work collaboratively with data architects and engineers to define infrastructure and deployment requirements
Provision, configure and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure defined as codeEnsure configuration and compliance with configuration management tools
Troubleshoot problems across a wide array of services and functional areasBuild and maintain operational tools for deployment, monitoring, and analysis of AWS data infrastructure and systems such as AWS S3, Glue, EMR, EC2, Sagemaker, Kinesis, EventBridge etc
Perform infrastructure cost analysis and optimization

Desired Skills

At least 2 years of experience building and maintaining AWS infrastructure (VPC, EC2, Security Groups, IAM, S3, Glue, EMR, Sagemaker, Kinesis, EventBridge)
Experience with AWS cloud services: EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift, Glue, Sagemaker
Strong understanding of how to secure AWS environments and meet compliance requirements
Hands-on experience deploying and managing infrastructure with Terraform
Solid foundation of networking and Linux administration
Experience with Docker, GitHub, Jenkins, ELK and deploying applications on AWS
Ability to learn/use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
Strong bias for action and ownership

Experience working with IoT/Sensors

Education/Experience

BA/BS or equivalent combination of work experience and education preferably in degree/course work/experience in computer science
2+ years of relevant experience

$100,000 - $130,000 a year
