About the Position


As a member of the Ethics, Compliance, and Data Privacy (ECDP) team, the Data Privacy Manager works cross-functionally with product/business teams to meet regulatory requirements and reduce risk related to data privacy, data management, and data retention. The individual acts as a subject matter expert and plays a key role in implementing, managing, and improving data privacy solutions and processes. In addition, the Data Privacy Manager is responsible for the deployment of privacy impact assessments, risk analyses of our privacy controls, and provides support in ECDP’s response to privacy incidents as necessary.

What You’ll Do:


1. Implement privacy solutions and technologies necessary to continue to enhance the University’s data privacy program.


2. Ensure the effectiveness of operations supporting the privacy function, including data subject request processes (DSRs), data inventory and mapping, privacy impact assessments (PIAs), policy and procedure drafting, administration of data privacy tools, monitoring, reporting, and incident management.


3. Engage cross-functionally to understand privacy needs and challenges of stakeholders, develop solutions, and drive continuous improvements.


4. Monitor current privacy trends, legislation, regulation, and activities to prepare stakeholders for upcoming changes.


5. Support the ECDP team in shaping and influencing a culture of privacy throughout the University through communications and training.


6. Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in technology, business, or related field

  • Three (3) years of experience working in an operational capacity in the areas of data privacy compliance, data governance and/or security risk project and program management that provided a working knowledge of US and global privacy laws and regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR, PIPEDA)

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience implementing and overseeing systems and processes of a privacy program (e.g., data inventory and mapping, PIAs, DSRs, consent management, data retention, policy development)

  • Proficient in specialized privacy/compliance tools (familiarity with OneTrust suite of products preferred)

  • Ability to understand technical architectures, system capabilities and explain data privacy requirements to various levels of data privacy knowledge

  • Able to exercise independent judgment, and work effectively on cross-functional teams

  • Demonstrate a sense of ownership and must be comfortable in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment

  • Exhibit excellent judgment, character, and professional integrity

  • Privacy certifications such as CIPP/E/US, CIPM, CIPT or equivalent

  • Experience working on or with Agile/Product Management teams

Pay Range

The annual pay range for this position is $70,500 (minimum), $106,500 (midpoint), and $142,500 (maximum).*

  • Typical hiring range is between the minimum and midpoint of the above pay range. Actual starting base pay may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, location and budget.
