The role

  • The Middesk Data Science team delivers world-class Data Products that empower our customers and internal teams to make decisions that accelerate the growth in B2B transactions in our economy.

  • As one of the few founding Data Scientists at Middesk, you will have the opportunity to shape the culture, technical vision and product direction of the company by leveraging your ability to drive effective decisions with first-principles thinking and data-driven insights.

  • As a high-potential talent who will be able to scale with a rapidly growing Middesk, we are excited for you to step up to build teams and/or lead initiatives in the future.

What you'll achieve

  • As one of the founding Data Scientists, you will get your hands dirty in building the most impactful Data Products that our customers and internal teams across Finance, Operations, Product and Revenue need to inform/productionize their most critical decisions.

    • Data Products include, but are not limited to, data models and ETL pipelines, reporting dashboards, business and product impact sizing, decision/ROI/trade-off frameworks, ML-based classification/lead scoring models

  • You will also partner closely with our functional and production leaders to align on goals, identify opportunities in our current state, as well as define scalable tools and processes that facilitate hypothesis-driven problem-solving and analytically-rigorous decision-making at Middesk.

  • You will develop, prioritize, execute and iterate rapidly on a roadmap of initiatives that deliver value to customers.

  • You will be an important part of building out a function from 0 to 1 and help decide its culture, processes, and identity within the broader organization.

What you’ve accomplished

  • Skill in building impactful Data Products: Regardless of preferred tools/technology stack, you have 2+ years experience in a quantitative role (it doesn’t have to be at a tech company!) and demonstrated your ability to prioritize and ship high-quality Data Products that influenced/productionized impactful decisions for customers/stakeholders.

  • Adept at problem-solving: You are able to reason through customer problems from first-principles to quickly develop and test high-impact solutions that address customer needs.

  • Excellent communications skills: You are able to synthesize, simplify and explain complex problems to different types of audience, including executives and customers.

  • Effective leader in a team environment: You understand the collaborative nature of this work and are able to effectively influence stakeholders in a cross-functional environment; you have a proven track record in raising and maintaining the bar for both team culture and quality of deliverables.
