Database Administrator - job 2 of 2

PURPOSE

Worldwide Express/GlobalTranz is looking for an experienced DBA to join our DB Ops team. Our DB Ops team manages databases across on premise, AWS and Azure. Platforms include Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Elasticsearch, CosmosDB, MySQL and Postgresql.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow established design and quality standards for security, backup, replication, and monitoring.
• Implement automation of routine database administrative tasks
• Participate in database upgrades and migrations
• Implement configuration changes to improve security and resiliency
• Monitor data platforms, respond to incidents and resolve problems
• Follow existing process for Agile work management and software development release cycle
• Prioritize and manage work, adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
• Self-starter that can collaborate actively with others in a cross-functional team or work independently
• Ensure 24x7 availability for critical database systems hosted “on premise” and on AWS & Azure Cloud
• Participate in On-Call Rotation
• Resolve connectivity issues
• Plan, create and support High Availability Database solutions
• Documentation of procedures, policies, relationships, and schema

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• MS/Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems or a related field; or equivalent work experience
• Understand relational database and NoSQL concepts, modeling, and tuning
• 1-3 years as a DBA, Data Engineer or similar role is required
• 1-3 years of PowerShell experience is preferred
• 1-3 years of experience with one or more of the following: SSAS, SSIS and SSRS
• Experience with agile development methodologies (SCRUM or Kanban)
• Previous experience in the Logistics and Transportation Industry is helpful
• Previous experience with Azure Synapse is helpful
