Our company is built on people: We call them Boxers. They come from a range of backgrounds and experiences, and each has a unique story to tell. Our goal is to fully leverage and engage the individual talents and capabilities of our diverse teams, ultimately creating an inclusive environment where Boxers feel they belong. From a Berkeley Cottage to Now

The idea for Box originated from a research project Aaron Levie worked on while at USC. He shared his concept for a simple content sharing platform with his childhood friend, Dylan Smith, and the two built the Box platform in 2005. Soon after, they moved to a cottage in Berkeley with their first round of funding--Dylan's online poker winnings of $20,000--to pursue their goal: to change the way people worked. Today, Box helps millions of customers worldwide untether from their desks and share content in the cloud. People can now work anywhere, on any device and collaborate across the globe with complete ease and security.

How We Empower

Along with the Cloud Content Management platform, Box.org, the nonprofit arm of Box, leverages resources from the Box community to drive positive social outcomes. The more missions we power with Cloud Content Management, the more we invest back into capacity-building for nonprofits. 

We're fortunate to support thousands of the world's most important organizations to the tune of $3M so far in annual Total Good. The overwhelming majority of nonprofits Box.org works with (96% in a recent survey) share that Cloud Content Management and our Box.org programs have made a positive impact on mission fulfillment.
