Job Purpose
Responsible for the data management of all related databases. Controls the platform's strategies for database performance, sizing, tuning, upgrades, security, backup and recovery, and high availability/failover.
Essential Functions
- Install, configure, upgrade, migrate and patch Oracle 10g/11g databases
- Extensive experience in a production Oracle environment including RAC, PL/SQL, OEM Grid control, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN, Partitioning, security, database tuning, and troubleshooting
- Install, configure, upgrade, migrate and patch SQL Server databases in a heterogeneous environment
- Experience in managing production MySQL, Postgres, and XBase database environments
- Plan, implement, and maintain Disaster Recovery methodology for all production databases
- Potential to manage other Database Administrators (Oracle and/or SQL Server)
- Work with technical architects to ensure data model meets the platform's requirements for the business and technical needs
- Define business object/database table mappings and structures, fail-over strategies and distributed data strategies
- Ensure database objects (views, stored procedures, triggers, constraints, etc.) and SQL statements meet performance and security objectives
- Ensure database migration scripts and programs meet data integrity, performance and security objectives
- Maintain and publish the database installation/operation guide and other pertinent documentation
- Develop, review and enforce database standards
- Extensive vendor integration
Experience
- 6 to 7 years of experience
- Minimum of 3 years' Oracle Administration experience required
- Minimum of 5 years' DBA experience on large-scale enterprise applications, including distributed and J2EE applications in a large development environment
- Demonstrated experience translating conceptual design and object models into logical and physical data models
- In-depth knowledge of and experience with Oracle 10gR2, and 11g RAC on UNIX/Solaris including database performance analysis
Education
- Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Oracle Database Administration Certified Professional (OCP) Certification - Required
- Oracle Real Application Clusters Administration Certification - Preferred
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and organizational skills and ability to make decisions for a highly available production environment
- Experience with Operational Support System (OSS) development would be an asset
