Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Payroll Tax Operations Manager. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of experience with MasterTax software and at least 2 years of direct management experience leading a team of tax operations specialists.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of payroll tax operations, including the filing of federal, state, and local tax returns. They should also be well-versed in the processes and procedures required to resolve federal, state, and local tax notices. Additionally, the ability to train and mentor tax specialists is essential. A deep understanding of federal, state, and local compliance regulations, coupled with a proven track record in resolving tax notices, is required.
Key responsibilities include ensuring accurate tax filings, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and addressing any payroll tax issues that arise.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership
Train, mentor, and support tax specialists, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.
Ability to communicate with all levels of management and act as a subject matter expert on tax operations
Tax Compliance
Ensure accurate and timely filing of payroll taxes at the federal, state, and local levels.
Maintain compliance with all relevant tax regulations and laws.
Monitor changes in tax legislation and update processes accordingly.
MasterTax Software Management
Utilize MasterTax software for payroll tax processing, filing, and reporting.
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues within the MasterTax system.
Tax Notice Resolution
Develop and implement processes and procedures to resolve federal, state, and local tax notices effectively.
Communicate effectively with tax authorities to resolve issues promptly.
Reporting and Documentation
Prepare and maintain accurate payroll tax records and reports.
Provide documentation and support for audits and compliance reviews.
Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with the Payroll Manager and other team members to ensure seamless payroll operations.
Communicate with employees and external partners regarding payroll tax inquiries and issues.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience leading a team of 5+ payroll tax specialists
Minimum of 3 years of experience using MasterTax software.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant payroll processing experience in a payroll service bureau
Proven experience in managing payroll tax compliance and resolving tax notices.
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
Proficient in G Suite, particularly Google sheets.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
