The Team
The Data Platform team at Deel is composed of senior engineers focused on improving data quality, data pipeline performance, platform tooling, and cost management of the entire data stack from ingestion to outbound integrations (and everything in between). As a Data Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will spend significant time crafting the future of our Data infrastructure and ensuring it can scale with 30+ Analytics Engineers and 100+ data professionals embedded in business units across Deel.
We work cross functionally with analysts, analytics engineers, data scientists, software engineers, and leadership to accomplish these goals.
As a Senior Data Engineer on our Data Platform team you will:
Create, set up, and manage data pipelines that are both scalable and efficient. Our preferred tools include Snowflake, Airflow, dbt Core, and Fivetran, but experience with other technologies is also welcomed.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and develop solutions that meet business needs.
Implement and enforce robust data governance policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, quality, and security of the organization's data assets.
Implement and maintain ELT processes to extract, load and transform data from various sources into our data warehouse.
Optimize SQL queries for data analysis and reporting purposes.
Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, analytics engineers, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide support in optimizing data workflows.
Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner.
Build a world-class development environment and CI/CD system that will allow our systems to scale for years to come.
Ingest data from REST APIs using python and Airflow.
Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve our data engineering practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, at least 5 years.
Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
Experience in working with or administering cloud-based data warehouses.
Experience with data modeling and designing efficient database schemas.
Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow.
Knowledge of dbt (data build tool) and Fivetran is highly desirable.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Experience setting up PII anonymisation.

Experience with GitHub Actions.
Experience with data streaming and CDC is a plus.
DWH Administration is a plus.
GDPR (or similar) is a plus.
