We believe aircraft should fly themselves. Automated aviation systems will enable a future where air transportation is safer, more convenient and fundamentally transformative to the way goods — and eventually people — move around the planet. We are a team of mission-driven engineers with experience across aerospace, robotics and self-driving cars working to make this future a reality.

As a Defense Solutions Engineering Lead, you will be part of the engineering group and report to the Head of Engineering. You'll own and drive major aspects of our programs for the U.S. Department of Defense. You'll build the foundation for a wide range of DoD projects and grow the organization to accomplish them.

Responsibilities

In your role as a Defense Solutions Engineering Lead you will bring together engineering disciplines to successfully deliver programs for Department of Defense customers. Projects will range in scope across Guidance, Navigation, Control (GNC), vehicle integration, and flight operations, spanning various civilian and military aircraft types. You'll build a deep understanding of the technical needs and solutions for each project, then coordinate across the company to drive delivery. You'll identify technical, program, and resource risks and develop mitigations. You'll work with DoD customers, internal engineering teams, and Reliable executives to ensure broad visibility across the projects.

Basic Success Criteria

  • Engineering experience including managing the end-to-end lifecycle of technical programs
  • Experience developing complex, safety critical systems, preferably in aviation or aerospace

Preferred Criteria

  • Experience delivering projects successfully for the U.S. DoD as a technical and program lead
  • Experience with U.S. DoD airworthiness processes and assessments
  • Experience in technical and capture lead roles for proposals to the U.S. Government
  • Experience in large, multi-engine military aircraft programs
  • Experience in managing external subcontractor/consultant relationships
