Job Description

We are on the lookout for experienced Data Scientists (all genders) to join the Seamless Deliveries domain of the Customer Logistics tribe in our mission to deliver consistently amazing customer experiences.

You will work alongside other data professionals designing and deploying advanced models to solve complex problems, delivering revenue for Delivery Hero at the frontline of our growth & profitability journey. 

At Delivery Hero, we are exploring ways to optimize our delivery times and perfect our forecasting and estimation abilities. We are developing and enhancing a range of products to better predict delivery times, optimize fleet operations, and improve the customer ordering experience..

The Customer Logistics tribe’s mission is to build products that make it easy for local brands to run efficient operations and deliver a delightful order experience to customers so they order on repeat. The tribe comprises teams of skilled analysts, engineers, and scientists working together to deliver data solutions affecting every customer journey across all of Delivery Hero’s 70+ markets.

  • Drive the development and implementation of advanced machine learning models for delivery time prediction, food prep time prediction, vendor consistency, etc. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the efficiency and performance of the machine learning models in across the vertical.

  • Analyse large-scale datasets to understand and identify opportunities deploying sophisticated statistical techniques to improve decision making in Time Predictions.

  • Lead research initiatives to explore emerging trends and technologies in machine learning, contributing to the advancement of Delivery Hero's digital products and algorithms. Stay informed about industry developments and incorporate new methodologies and best practices into our data science workflows.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in data science and machine learning, providing guidance and mentorship to other team members and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the data science team.

Qualifications

  • You excel at modeling business problems using machine learning techniques covering feature engineering, model selection and design as well as evaluation and optimisation to deliver value to the business. 

  • You enhance the performance of other team members through mentorship and constructive collaboration to benefit others from your deep understanding and experience of data science.

  • You have expertise in building and training advanced machine learning models with strong knowledge of the Python data toolkit ideally centering around Pandas, SQL, Sklearn, and PySpark. 

  • Through the fluent use of SQL queries you are able to explore our data universe and gather data to support your analysis and the development of machine learning solutions.

  • You write clean, production-level code and effectively use software versioning with Git.

  • You are familiar with deploying and developing in cloud systems, ideally with experience in GCP and bigquery.

  • You love to learn, are a critical thinker and creative problem solver who strives for excellence.

  • You are a team player who loves to collaborate and work with stakeholders from different tech teams in a diverse environment.

Nice to have:

  • Experience deploying complex models to serve live traffic and collaborating with ML engineers in creating efficient systems that integrate ML models following good MLOps practices.

  • Experience in working on logistics product development would be a great benefit.
