The primary duty station is at our Cullowhee campus with periodic travel to Biltmore Park site.
The employee will provide hardware and software troubleshooting, repair service, and support to the university staff, faculty, and students. In addition, the employee will provide hardware technical expertise, consultation, and training to university clients. Employee will coordinate and collaborate between the different IT & university functional areas for hardware and software support and work closely with clients to purchase, deliver, setup, and surplus university physical IT assets. Employee will regularly use applications such as Cherwell and Team Dynamix to track work, tasks and time worked on projects related to their role in the Division. Employee will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
Working hours will generally be Monday-Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm and may be adjusted based upon management discretion.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong customer relations skills are required
Must be able to work and interact well with others
Solid organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to expand work skills and abilities
Ability to handle special projects
Strong troubleshooting skills for desktop and laptop computers
Technical knowledge of current Windows operating systems, Mac OS X operating systems and the Microsoft Office Suites
Working knowledge of PC and Apple computer systems and hardware
Project management skills are a plus
Basic working knowledge of wired/wireless networks
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school and one year of experience in the field of technology related to the position’s role. Coursework in computer or information technology may be substituted year for year for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to those applicants with:
Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and repair work,
Microsoft and/or Apple Certifications,
AAS degrees,
Previous hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
Preference will also be given to those with technology training and/or higher education experience
