We are hiring for two shifts: 7am-3pm; 11pm-7am
Description of essential duties and responsibilities:

Inspect the Detention facility daily to ensure that standards of cleanliness, fire, health, safety, and security are met; report any problem to the Director on duty or on-call; perform any necessary housekeeping

Check the facility, appliances, and equipment to ensure everything is in good repair; report any problems to the Director on duty or on-call

Conduct a resident count at the beginning and end of each shift

Assume responsibility for the key to the facility; assure all keys are accurately counted and present in the facility, twice on every shift

Responsible for ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed on their shift

Supervise and evaluate Detention/Sanctions officers on their shift; report any problems to the Director on duty or on-call

Responsible for dispensing medication to residents/detainees as directed by the medical authority

Coordinate with the teachers and Directors on scheduling and resident information
-
Assures that the Director and Shift Supervisors on duty or on-call is aware of all pertinent information that affects the health and well-being of resident/detainees, or the safety and security of the facility

Assume responsibility for the resident/detainees property and clothing

Communicate all pertinent information to the incoming shift

Submit a supply list when items are getting low

Handle problems with resident/detainees when they occur

Train new Detention/Sanction Officers

Responsible for meeting the physical and emotional needs of the residents/detainees under the defined parameters of the Detention Center

Provide direct supervision of resident/detainees, keeping them in close proximity; in visual and auditory contact during program times

Prepare all necessary paperwork including intake and release forms, daily logs, incident reports, medical reports, etc.

Develop a thorough understanding of all security and emergency procedures

Perform other job duties as directed by the Detention Director or Assistant Detention/Sanctions Directors

Assist Shift Supervisor on duty in the operation of the facility along with supervision of Detention/Sanctions Officers and residents/detainees. Become positive mentor and trainer for staff
Qualifications for position:
-
Bachelor’s Degree OR at least 62 hours of college coursework with six months experience with juvenile or adult corrections or social services; OR with a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of work-related experience in a detention or residential setting.

Must be 21 years of age

Must pass background, drug and alcohol screening
Supervisory relationships:
This position reports directly to the Assistant Directors of Detention and Sanctions; this position is responsible for supervising Detention and Sanctions Officers and Assistant Shift Supervisors
Skills and knowledge required:
Individual must be physically able to restrain a juvenile should it become necessary; have adequate visual and auditory skills to supervise residents/detainees; be physically able to stand on their feet for an entire eight-hour shift; and have skills necessary to operate the security devises in a safe and competent manner. Must be willing to spend an entire eight-hour shift in a room with the residents/detainees.

Individual should have sufficient interpersonal skills to work closely with both peers and resident/detainees.
Amount of travel and other special conditions or requirements:
Some travel may be required to perform job duties and training.
Work Schedule:
Required 40 hour work week; must be willing to work variable and flexible schedule; must be able to report on a short notice if necessary.
