Summary:
The Canadian County Expo & Event Center staff members work in a team environment performing a variety of tasks and special events within the facility buildings and grounds. Successful candidates will be energetic, dependable and take pride in producing quality results with a great attitude and customer service. This position requires working in collaboration with team members. This role will be tasked with a variety of duties where flexibility is a must and the availability to work abnormal evening and weekend hours is critical to the organization’s success. The team member is expected to take part in completing all necessary task while simultaneously assisting in developing operational methods globally that improve our service to clients and our staff. This position will work directly with customers renting the Canadian County Expo & Event Center facilities and inmate labor. Customers renting the facility will range from Horse Show, Rodeo, Roping, Cow Horse, Reigning, Trade Show, Gun show, Wedding, Livestock and Corporate events. The position will work under the direction of the Canadian County Director & Marketing Manager and will be tasked the responsibility of preparing the facilities stall, arena, seating and grounds for an event as well as re-setting the facility and grounds after an event.
Description of Duties:
- Operate Equipment Tractor / Skid Steer / Truck / Telehandler / Water Trailer / Loader / Dump trailer / Debris loaders.
- Assist Lead Event Technician in all duties needed to prepare for and breakdown after events.
- Assembly and disassembly of Expo materials and equipment such as Corral panels, Arena, stalls, Roping equipment, Rodeo equipment, furniture and power distribution equipment.
- Work and prepare Arena floors for event start using tractor, drag and related equipment (indoor/outdoor & warm-up).
o Work arena footings with arena drag
o Water arena footings
o Level arena footings with box scraper
- Prepare, install & remove the following as needed:
o rubber mats on Event Center Floor
o additional arena footing
o carpet for indoor arena
o small animal pens on indoor arena aprons
o various paneling requests in arena
o horse stalls under the pavilion and/or event center
o grandstands and bleachers within the facility
o staging
o A/V equipment
o temporary power
o table & chairs
- Maintain parking lots (sweep asphalt, grade gravel, fill hoes, etc)
- Meet with, and assist drivers and customers for livestock, roping stock, and event material drop off.
- Assist with the pickup, drop off and supervision of inmate labor.
- Onsite and available when events take place (Includes weekend and after hours).
- Organizing, maintaining and retention of Expo & Event Center equipment and records of equipment use.
- Mowing, weed eating, spraying
- General assistance in event preparation
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, and customers to ensure maximum speed and accuracy
- Follow safety guidelines to operate in a safe manner.
- Working closely with customers and distributing rental items and Expo services to customers if applicable.
- Understand and provide leadership to achieve goals and objectives to those around you.
- Resolve unusual service requests, equipment breakdowns and schedule changes with timely communications to all parties involved.
- Interact with customers to solve and rectify any issues and improve the overall customer experience.
- Serve as a positive representative of Canadian County employees to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty to the organization.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High School Degree required.
- 2 years’ experience in a related field preferred.
- Experience and certifications as an equipment operator preferred.
- Perform detailed work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment handling multiple tasks with flexibility in a calm, professional manner.

Physical Working Conditions:
- Long hours, nights and weekends during peak periods in a high-stress environment.
- Frequent or continual movement from place to place with normal physical mobility covering long distances with ease, managing assigned tasks throughout various indoor and outdoor locations within and around the property and in potentially inclement/severe weather conditions.
- Regularly lift, carry, and put away items weighing up to 80 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry heavier items and/or assist others in lifting heavier objects as job demands.
- Walk and/or stand for extended periods in addition to other prolonged physical exertions including seeing, hearing, reaching, grasping, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, crouching, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions and tight areas.
Safety: The employee shall be knowledgeable about, and follow Canadian County’s safety policies and procedures and immediately report (i.e. during current shift) any accidents, unusual occurrences, or any other safety-related issues to the their supervisor.
