The Development Scientist II is responsible for:

• Assisting in the development of RT-PCR IVD assay
• Performing rigorous analytical studies required to demonstrate technical feasibility and design verification studies
• Maintaining detailed experimental records and present data at technical meetings
• Effectively manage experiments with shifting priorities and meet due dates
• Handling clinical samples and assist in microbiology work on BSL-1 and BSL2 organisms, if needed

This position is part of the Assay R&D and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA (Hybrid). At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Design and develop the unique PCR based viral IVD product
• Demonstrate conceptual and practical expertise in infectious disease field and basic knowledge of related disciplines
• Implement verification and validation SOPs and write technical reports
• Work independently, but also receive guidance as needed
• Positively Impact a range of internal and external customers, and other related teams

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology/Microbiology/Bioinformatics or related field with 2+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in Molecular Biology/Microbiology/Bioinformatics or related field with 0+ years of related work experience

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• GeneXpert platform
• IVD assay development
• Handling human clinical specimens and performing aseptic microbiology work

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement in which you can work part of the time at the Company location identified above and part of the time remotely from your home. The salary range for this role is $90,000 – $100,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
