We are looking for a seasoned Senior Software Engineering Manager to manage and lead a software engineering team developing molecular diagnostic applications for the GeneXpert System platform. This is a critical leadership role in our software organization that requires seasoned people management skills to hire, manage, and develop top engineering talent. The role also requires strong strategic and critical thinking, and strong communication inside and outside of software engineering. The role includes ownership of products with the responsibility to deliver high quality, scalable, and extensible software, including making appropriate design and technology choices.

This position is part of the Software and Connectivity Group and will be based in Sunnyvale, CA.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Drive the design and development of medical device software for new product development and sustaining engineering in an Agile environment
• Provide hands-on technical leadership for software engineering teams, helping the teams continuously improve software development practices
• Review the existing systems landscape and provide guidance on best practices for optimization and automation
• Develop strong teams, strategically deploy resources, and enable positive team culture

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• A minimum of 9+ years of hands on software development experience with experience in object oriented design, C++, Java, Databases, Web application development
• At least 5+ years of proven managerial experience developing a high performing software engineering team
• Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to navigate corporate environments and influence stakeholders and partners
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical problems to non-technical audiences
• Experience in instrument software, healthcare systems or a regulated industry like medical devices is preferred.

The salary range for this role is $170K - $200K. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
