MEET THE TEAM...
ISS (Infrastructure Shared Service) is an international organization within Pure, responsible for all of Pure Storage's engineering infrastructure, development environment, and production services. We work with all internal engineering teams to provide reliable services that are used to develop new products and features, in many different environments: from our multiple data centers to various public clouds.
The Datacenter Infrastructure Engineering Team is tasked with supporting the datacenter, both internal production and testing environments. Our goal is to increase the efficiency of engineering by quickly providing and automating the necessary resources for use within the data center back-ends of Pure's developmental and testing infrastructure.
What You'll Be Doing...
- Working with a team of operations and software engineers focused on delivering data center resources to engineering teams across Pure Storage in order to increase productivity and resiliency of our systems
- Developing internal services with high levels of availability based on well-defined SLAs and SLOs
- You will be building and supporting applications, services, and automation using languages such as Python and Javascript development for both web applications and automation tooling
- Supporting our own services including working with engineering to improve resiliency and create new features to improve robust production at Pure
- Owning areas of code and services, including helping to set vision and direction
Out of the Gate...
- CI pipeline: Build bare-metal pipeline systems that can be used to coordinate multi-stage builds and deployments. Work with other engineering teams and with your own team to make this available as a service
- System image automation: Create a system to create, configure, and build bare-metal machine images as well as base container images to be used by container management backends
- API abstraction of backend resources by creating and integrating APIs that engineers will use to interact with an internal cloud as well as external clouds. We want to make it easy for engineers to deploy applications on our cloud
- Application lifecycle management: Develop automation for various aspects of lifecycle management of applications, hosts, and user accounts. This will involve interacting with multiple systems, as well as security to ensure that we are complying with various security requirements
- Kubernetes - Manage and develop an operational K8's environment as the foundation of the IaC toolset
What You Bring To The Team...
- 5-10 years of hands-on experience developing software and working in automation
- Effective Communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams and managers
- Experience with System administration including provisioning and managing servers, patching, and network connectivity
- Solid understanding and experience with DevOps tools including infrastructure, monitoring, and observability
- Proven configuration management experience with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Operating containers and container orchestration with Kubernetes
- Automating the process of building, testing, and deploying software through CI/CD tools while working closely with the rest of the development organization ensuring effective utilization of resources
- Ability to design, provision, and manage system architectures standards, best practices, and Infrastructure-as-Code across on-prem physical infrastructure and public cloud resources in AWS and Azure
- Familiarity with coding and scripting beyond writing shell scripts. Understanding of advanced software development practices and how to implement agile methodologies such as code reviews and using source control
Cross-team collaborative management skills to effectively drive DevOps strategy, coaching and elevating co-workers, and the ability to mentor from a DevOps perspective
- Strong understanding of
- Python and Javascript Development
- Bare-metal provisioning using PXE and Kickstarter
- Ansible / Puppet
- Kubernetes
- Testing frameworks such as PyTest or Jest
- Helm
- Linux systems and configuration
- Familiarity with
- Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IAC) Development
- Software and artifact build pipelines such as Spinnaker or Jenkins pipelines
- AWS, GCP, and/or Azure Cloud
The annual base salary range is: $120,000 - $181,000. Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations. This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
