Quality Assurance Analyst

IT Quality Assurance Analyst Location: Atlanta, GA or Birmingham, AL DESCRIPTION The Technology Organization’s Customer Engagement portfolio is seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst. The QA Analyst is responsible for creating and assisting in the development and execution of manual, automated, and exploratory tests for customer facing websites and middleware applications, using proven testing methodologies. This role will also focus on manual testing & testing automation as a SME for Tricentis Tosca (both AS1 & AS2 certifications are required for this role). The candidate will actively participate in multiple projects and work closely with development teams in an agile environment. The candidate will be required to review functional requirements to assess the impact on the software applications, formulate test cases, and will assist the agile teams with backlog grooming and capturing acceptance criteria. The QA Analyst tasks include logging, tracking, troubleshooting and escalation of issues identified during testing cycles. Additional responsibilities include maintaining testing evidence for each test as proof of validation, evaluate testing effectiveness, and provide improvement feedback for testing processes.This is a HYBRID position: Candidates must reside within commuting distance of the designated office in Atlanta or Birmingham and be willing to be present at the office as requested and/or on a regular basis.JOB REQUIREMENTSEducationBS/BA preferred, with preference given to Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or other technology related field.Experience2+ years experience testing web applications & APIs2+ years experience with testing automationStructured Software Testing ExperienceExperience with automated regression testing, performance testing, and an application quality management solutionExperience writing database queriesExperience with performance testing automation tools such as Neoload, preferredKnowledge/Skills/AttributesCandidate must possess current Tricentis Tosca Fundamentals − Automating web application testing (AS1 - Formerly called Automation Specialist Level 1) & Tricentis Tosca Fundamentals − Optimizing test automation with centralized test data (AS2 – Formerly called Automation Specialist Level 2) certifications.Strong analysis skills with ability to identify and document test plans, defects, and resultsMeticulous attention to detailExcellent root cause analysis skills & problem-solving skillsActs with initiative, speed, and decisivenessEffectively organizes tasks, manages multiple priorities/details, and meets tight deadlinesLearns quicklyStrong oral and written communication skillsBuilds productive relationships with a focus on cooperation & teamworkCommunicate effectively and timely with customers, management, and team membersDisplay ability to work independently of direct supervisionUnderstanding of SDLC and Agile processesBuild effective relationships with peers, management, and customersBe a student of the business, taking care to understand the challenges & goals of our companyExhibit Our ValuesJOB RESPONSIBILITIESSubject Matter Expert for testing automation within the team.QA lead for scrum team responsible for major API & customer facing web applicationsUnderstand project scope and requirements to ensure appropriate testing coverageProviding estimates through agile methodologies for thorough application testingFacilitate and coordinate effective communication within an assigned delivery team as well as other teams within the organizationPerforming manual system testing and user acceptance testing for applicationsEnsuring required documentation, test plan and test result documentation for projects and initiatives is developedContribute to end-to-end product testing strategy, focusing on the customer experience.Coordinate and support automated regression, performance, and load testing with internal technology groupsProviding final signoff/authorization to move solutions to productionOther RequirementsOccasional night and weekend work may be necessaryOccasional travel may be necessarySouthern Company (NYSE: SO) is a leading energy provider serving 9 million residential and commercial customers across the Southeast and beyond through its family of companies.
