Apply via Dice today!JOB DESCRIPTION:The Kentucky Department of Revenue s Division of Information Management is seeking to hire a System Architect to assist in planning and overseeing the Division s software Application modernization and upgrade efforts. This is a long-term requirement (multi-year) position which will entail the planning and high-level redesign of multiple legacy applications to align with Zero Trust and DevSecOps principals and the use of modern coding practices with an end goal of delivering highly secure applications. This position requires high level design skills and while coding experience may be beneficial, it is not needed, nor will it be part of the job requirement. Familiarity with planning application design using secure microservices and managing the testing and deploying of these applications will be an important part of this job. Additionally, the candidate will provide recommendations on updating and upgrading existing database structures and data to improve security. The candidate will be supported by subject matter experts, project managers, developers, and business analysts as required.RESPONSIBILITIES:• Work with management to update application development efforts and ensure compliance with modern software coding best practices using segmentation, containerization, microservices, and Zero Trust.• Work with management and subject matter experts to design, create, and update end-to-end systems using modern coding standards.• Work with development teams and vendors on architecting properly documented, secure, and efficient applications.• Work with a variety of teams, both inside and outside of DOR, to ensure adherence to updated standards so that systems are consistent and compliant.• Standardize system design and data structures for all systems supported by DOR and review database structures when applications are created or enhanced.• Provide recommendations to teams on database performance tuning, normalization, data import and export processes• Work in a team environment on multiple tasks and initiatives concurrently.SKILLSETS REQUIRED:• Experience in DevSecOps application development.• Experience in developing within the Zero Trust Security model.• Experience in setting up Application testing and acceptance standards.BENEFICIAL BUT NOT REQUIRED:• Experience with IT systems for tax filing, processing, and administration is a plus.• Experience designing hybrid cloud systems and services.• Experience in designing for and implementing under a Kubernetes or Docker platform.• Experience in designing applications using secure microservices.System Architect (Zero Trust / DevSecOps)
