Digital Product Manager (Associate Director)

OVERVIEW:
The Digital Product Manager is responsible for leading an agile team to solve defined problems and transform key business opportunities into reality. This includes overseeing and creating structure for an agile team; from developing a shared understanding of the business context, defining current and to-be user journeys, facilitating technical solution discussions, and establishing the vision for what is prototyped and developed. You are an expert in writing agile user stories that deliver incremental value. You craft product roadmaps and epics that reflect the needs of your users and best practices of the Business Lead, UX Designer, and Technical Architect. You will develop testing, change management, and implementation plans with support from agile and product experts. To continuously deliver value and improve product outcomes, you will monitor adoption post-launch, establish pipelines for user feedback management, and ensure a successful transition into ongoing operations. You are at the helm of the agile team, steering and connecting the scrum master, digital experience designers, architects, developers, QA resources, and business leaders.
To be successful in this role, you are a cross-functional leader possessing strategic thinking, planning, prioritization, delegation, and communication skills with a foundation in product/software development. You’re someone who thrives in creating clarity and structure for your team and stakeholders while balancing the iterative nature of Agile. You are comfortable working with and across teams, communicating requirements, project and organizational change management, and business priorities. Additionally, the Digital Product Manager will model best practices and standards for agile and design thinking, principles, and techniques.
The Digital Product Manager will also have the opportunity to interact with students as a mentor, group facilitator, and advocate, participating in building a positive educational environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Product Growth Planning
  • Build and maintain product roadmaps that reflect defined business goals, user feedback, development complexity, change management, and planned innovation sprints
  • Ensure appropriate structures are put in place to regularly elicit user feedback and synthesize results for prioritization
  • Participate in business and user research to establish new key product opportunities
  • Prioritize the most impactful and valuable opportunities and establish cross-functional alignment
  • Be an advocate for digital transformation, promoting cross-functional focus on design thinking and user experience
Product Management
  • Lead agile team utilizing agile framework to deliver prioritized product initiatives
  • Own and maintain product backlog by evaluating daily inputs from key stakeholders and agile team
  • Cultivate agile team culture of transparency, collaboration, iteration, and knowledge sharing
  • Develop processes to monitor, track, and communicate product performance and achievements
  • Define business process, design, and development milestones to help plan releases
  • Ensure clear agile team member processes and hand-offs
  • Support development team to ensure best practices are established for solution development and review prior to build

  • Facilitate agile team and stakeholder discussions for change management activities including communication, training, and testing plans
  • Oversee and empower scrum master to spearhead scrum ceremonies and day-to-day activities
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs/budget
  • Manage project risk and escalated issues through stakeholder engagement and sponsors
  • Work with business owners to define measurable KPIs to determine success of product initiatives
  • Own and execute product release plan in coordination with the Director of Enterprise Digital Portfolios
  • Ensure effective handoff to IT Infrastructure and Support Services for ongoing maintenance and support
  • Ensure all team members have clear workstream goals and accountabilities
  • May direct the activities of on-site and off-site consultants
  • Other duties as assigned
Site Team/Learning Community Member
  • Serve as a coach/mentor for a small number of current students
  • Join and sometimes facilitate weekly group sessions with students
  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings
Salary Range: $120,000 - $125,000
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3 to 5 years experience in digital experience, product management, leading scrum/agile, business systems analysis, project management, or IT solution design
  • Hands-on implementation and delivery experience, with 2+ years as a scrum master/product manager
  • Working knowledge of agile delivery methodology with experience using Agile backlog management tool(s), preferably JIRA
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred
  • Experience working with a cross-functional and geographically dispersed team in a matrixed environment
  • Strong skills in presentation, communication, and senior leadership engagements
  • Vendor management and solution design experience preferred
  • Certification in one or more of the following: PMI/PMP/Scrum/Agile a plus
  • Experience with non-profits a plus
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
  • Year Up has established salary ranges for each of our sites, which allows us to pay employees competitively, equitably and consistently in different geographic markets. For roles in which the location is listed as flexible, the range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Salary offers take into account a candidate’s skills, experience, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.

  • Vacation: Earn three weeks paid vacation in first year of employment; four weeks after initial year.
