About the Role:
Direct Counsel is seeking an Associate (ideally in the 3rd to 6th year range) to join an Am Law 100 firm’s Energy and Infrastructure Practice Group. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects in energy and infrastructure, advising clients on project finance, development, and structured financings. Ideal candidates will have experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors but candidates with leveraged finance or other finance backgrounds are also encouraged to apply. You will work with a diverse client base, including major corporations, private equity firms, institutional investors, banks, and financial institutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in project finance and development transactions in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
  • Handle limited recourse and structured financings, ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys to advise on complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions within the energy and infrastructure spaces.
  • Provide strategic advice to clients on risk management, project development, and financing options.
  • Draft and review contracts and agreements associated with project financing and development.

Requirements:

  • JD with outstanding academic credentials.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in project finance, development, or finance-related transactions (energy, infrastructure, or leveraged finance).
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills.
