ABOUT THE FLOCK

As the leader of the bluebird Patient and Community Education Liaison (bPACE) team you will be working alongside some of the most committed and passionate individuals in the industry to ensure we continue to bring creative solutions to patients living with Severe Genetic Diseases (SGD). As a team leader, you will be responsible for setting the strategy and direction of the bPACE team, with the ultimate goal of helping empower patients and caregivers with tools and educational materials that help them navigate their disease, the healthcare ecosystem and decision making. The bPACE team will be responsible for providing patients and caregivers living with sickle cell disease (SCD) and beta thalassemia (BT) with meaningful educational resources primarily focused on of the management and progression of the disease(s) and gene therapy.

In this leadership role, you will be a key member of the marketing leadership team helping to identify relevant and actionable patient insights at a local/regional level relevant for the execution of the brand plan. Your team serves as a catalyst for identifying the patient voice and perspective to drive bluebird bio's decisions through meaningful engagement. You will bring a strong patient focused mindset, experience in leading teams, and the ability to identify and synthetize educational gaps and closely partner with cross-functional teams.


HOW YOU'LL FLY

You'll help to bring patients and their families more bluebird days by

  • Leading a field-based team of Patient and community education liaisons, helping to motivate, set objectives and manage performance for each individual
  • Helping synthetize educational opportunities identified across US geographies to engage with patient community.
  • Helping deliver patient/caregiver educational materials and content on gene therapy, disease state/disease progression and approved products at patient focused educational events, including those led by community-based organizations and/or hospitals/institutions
  • Collaborating with marketing team in the refinement and development patient education resources, and in the development of patient and caregiver brand strategy and tactical plans.
  • Closely collaborating with patient advocacy team in supporting and engaging with SCD warriors and patient advocates to help uncover educational needs and opportunities for partnerships.
  • Supporting patient advocacy at local patient community events and conferences and in delivery of approved educational materials.
  • Identifying unique patient engagement opportunities beyond educational presentations, congresses, ad boards, and round table discussions.
  • Working with and informing cross-functional partners, in educational unmet needs and challenges collected from patient insights and maintaining expertise on gene therapy, Hemoglobinopathies (including transfusion-dependent thalassemia (TDT) and sickle cell disease (SCD) and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

You're the bird we're looking for if you have

  • Bachelor's degree required, Advanced degree preferred and 14+ years of experience in healthcare industry.
  • Prior experience in patient education, clinical setting, community health education, and/or pharmaceutical/biotech industry with experience managing high performing teams
  • Experience in Sickle Cell Disease therapeutic area and/or rare disease, oncology/hematology and or transplant center experience preferred.
  • Passion and ability to establish relationships with patient community and caregivers.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, including ability to deliver and present educational materials to patient community.
  • Ability to work cross functionally and effectively collaborate with various part of the bluebird organization and field facing teams
  • Strategic mindset to identify and summarize key insights relevant to the patient/caregiver strategy.

This is a field-based role. Travel as required by business. 40% local/regional travel required for patient meetings/congresses.


Compensation & Benefits

We offer a total compensation and rewards package that ranks among the best in our industry. Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The anticipated annualized salary range for this role is $186,436 - $239,694. Your base pay will be determined based on several factors including market data, demonstrated skills, relevant education or training, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and travel requirements. Our overall package also includes eligibility for stock, incentive bonuses, and benefit programs, a flexible time off program, as well as 28 paid holidays, including 2 company shutdowns.
