Director, Commercial Finance

What the job does:

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and New Business Development, the Director-Commercial Finance is responsible for leading the commercial FP&A function for Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Inc.- North America. This position will lead financial planning, reporting and business analytics responsibilities of the North America business and lead a team of two direct reports. The individual will lead business partnering, budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, business case building for commercial teams to aide strategic business decision making in a fast paced and rapid growth environment. The Director-Commercial Finance will act as a co-pilot to Matrix shareholders in driving forward initiatives critical to the establishment and delivery of the strategy, performance, and results for the North America region.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Business Partnership and Leadership:

  • Talent champion for 2 direct reports encompassing successful delivery of their remit, professional development, and career pathing
  • Work collaboratively with cross functional teams to foster trust and ROI mindset, culminating in transparent partnerships
  • Remain informed and engaged on performance and pulse of the business
  • Work collaboratively with sales, marketing, and demand planning to monitor and optimize sell-in, sell-out, trade spend and inventory KPIs
  • Lead weekly SISO meetings with sales and supply chain teams to effectively track and report sales performance
  • Lead business case development for new doors, refits, promotions, and other commercial initiatives
  • Identify and perform ROI and post-mortem analysis of various commercial initiatives
  • Instill appropriate ringfence measures to ensure budget financial objectives delivery
  • Monitor and analyze monthly actual performance versus the latest Forecast/Budget and scrutinize results and deviations to plans
  • Proactive analysis of customer and channel P&L performance to influence decision making, maximize ROI and identify R&O’s
  • Drive harmonization and efficiencies to ensure continuous development and improvements to ways of working within the finance organization

Budget/Forecast:

  • Work in collaboration with stakeholders to facilitate commercial budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans in adherence with regional strategy with emphasis on alignment of integrated levers across the business
  • Challenge assumptions and asks encompassing commercial trade tactics
  • Prepare commentary and presentation decks for budgets/forecasts
  • Ensure stakeholder adherence to budget/forecast timetables for submissions
  • Ownership of forecast data load into Anaplan and global FP&A partnership
  • Assist with annual pricing reviews for North America; work in tandem with Global Product Portfolio Manager to assess pricing suggestions relative to market and all other regions

Month End and Reporting:

  • Accountability of Customer P&Ls and Channel P&Ls
  • Timely and accurate completion of the month end close process for assigned areas of responsibility ensuring actuals are in-line with true business performance with focus on understanding of any material deviation
  • Deliver various month end analysis and P&L commentary
  • Manage the preparation of financial reports and decks, including functional reporting for local leadership
  • Identify, manage, and track risks and opportunities across the North American business
  • Prepare monthly actual results and facilitate various departmental and Senior Leadership meetings
  • Serve as the primary support person for all commercial finance related issues for operating departments included but not limited to Internal/External Audit requests, A/R and deductions management and General terms of Sale and Delivery / Commercial Policy adherence
  • Anaplan and NetSuite power user

Requirements

You will have:

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
  • Finance/ FP&A experience of 8+ years in CPG environment
  • Proven track record of managing and developing high performing teams
  • A high degree of problem-solving ability and critical thinking
  • Extensive business partnering (with focus on sales and supply chain teams), financial reporting and month end experience
  • Motivated self-starter with ability to multi-task in a very fast-paced start-up environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface comfortably at all levels both internally and externally
  • Must be detailed-oriented and organized
  • Advanced Excel skills and financial systems savviness (financial modeling skills highly preferred)
  • Prior experience w/ NetSuite and Anaplan preferred
  • Record of process improvements
  • Affinity for beauty and retail

Who will you work with:

You will work alongside a team of two (Senior Finance Manager and Sr. Financial Analyst) and will report into the Vice President of Finance and New Business Development. This role will also partner with various North America Business functions, such as: Commercial, Field Sales, Supply Chain, Marketing, Visual Merchandising and Local/Global Finance teams.

Base Salary Range: $160,000 - $185,000**
