At Hexion, we believe in the value of human potential and work proactively to foster a business and culture that allows every associate to thrive. We are seeking a DEI Director who will support the development, implementation, and monitoring of the company’s DEI initiatives around the globe. Reporting to Global VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), this individual will be a collaborative, hands-on DEI practitioner who has proven experience influencing leaders at all organizational levels. They will become a key member of the cross-functional leadership team and collaborate closely with the Global VP of DEI to build equitable practices, procedures, and infrastructures across the network. This is not a program-based DEI role; instead, we anticipate that this individual will promote a comprehensive, holistic DEI approach throughout our business.
Job Responsibilities

Support the Global VP, DEI in the development of a DEI strategy and tactical work plans. Work with and support business leaders to implement DEI initiatives throughout the business.

Oversee and manage Hexion’s Business Resource Groups (BRG) program, supporting each BRG leader and helping them to increase adoption and participation across the company. Directly manage volunteer efforts related to the BRGs and oversee various efforts to launch and expand affiliate chapters.

Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, Talent & Development, Communications, Supplier Diversity, and Sustainability teams to integrate the D&EI initiatives into the company’s overall talent, learning, and supplier strategies.

Develop new programs to attract, retain and promote a diverse workforce and improve sourcing, hiring and retaining diverse candidates by connecting with professional organizations and leveraging social media and community connections.

Work with HR and business leaders to drive the prioritization of leadership and promotional opportunities that are available to diverse employees and candidates.

Support the establishment, tracking and reporting on metrics that measure the effectiveness of diversity initiatives across different functions (retention, talent upskilling, employee engagement, equity, etc.) and against industry benchmarks.

Identify and leverage organizational resources across our businesses, regions and functions to inform and support the DEI strategy.

Serve as the company’s liaison for various external partnerships including the FOSSI STEM program, Second Chance Program, and Columbus Collaboration Partnership, etc. Manage all internal activities needed to support these initiatives and identify and leverage best practices learned from these organizations.

Play an active role in the community, identifying and building relationships and partnerships that enable Hexion to make a difference throughout the communities we serve. Serve as a DEI spokesperson and engage frequently in speaking, coaching and training opportunities (both internal and external).

Build deep understanding of Hexion’s existing processes and systems and make recommendations that will drive changes to embed inclusion into day-to-day work practices and related to attracting, retaining, and engaging a diverse workforce.

Lead or contribute to the development of best-in-class training & development materials including programs that educate employees and managers on ways to recognize, accommodate and appreciate individual differences and how these can be leveraged to assist in meeting the business plan. Act as a SME to ensure DEI principles and best practices are embedded in all leadership programming and serve as a change agent to provide solutions, resources and training on DEI related training topics.

Champion best practices, stay abreast of DEI trends, and be a brand ambassador for Hexion to support the attraction of talent.

Partner with Marketing and Communications team for regular updates and act as a content consultant as needed.

As directed by the Global VP, DEI, provide expert advice to help each business function find ways to implement DEI in different settings, cultures, regions, etc. (huddle topics, etc.).

Demonstrate strong relationship building skills as well as a collaborative spirit - must be able to partner with peers, colleagues, and community partners.
Have very strong communication, executive presentation skills and facilitation skills.
Have strong coaching and mentoring skills, with ability to influence individuals at various levels of the organization.
Strong project management and implementation skills, with the ability to balance multiple programs simultaneously.
Ability to travel (up to 40%).

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in a business-related field

7-10 years’ experience in Diversity and Inclusion partnership/leadership.

Additional certifications in DEI specializations a plus

Experience working in a global environment operating across multiple geographies and cultures is a plus.
