Director, Mobile Engineering

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Director of Mobile Engineering to join our growing team in Toronto! As our Director of Mobile Engineering, the successful candidate will work cross functionally with designers, product managers, and developers to build, launch, and fine tune features of our app! You’ll get the chance to help build the next generation of digital financial services within our app. You’ll work with some of the sharpest minds on utilizing bleeding edge architectural design patterns and coding standards. Most importantly, your goal will be to help push rock solid features out in a disciplined and production ready fashion.

You'll...

lead the planning, designing, and architecting of new functionality on mobile applications;
perform code reviews alongside senior engineers, collaborating to nail the best software design decisions and code quality;
lead the mobile team in writing clean code on applications;
have a keen eye for detail and quality at overall application UX as well as at the code level;
challenge the product design team and developers to ship pixel perfect and user friendly interfaces and experiences across both mobile applications;
motivate and inspire the mobile team to drive business value and deliver clear updates to the team.

You're a great fit for our team because...

you have a background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or in a similar field (not mandatory if you have relevant experience);
you have extensive professional experience in building greenfield mobile (iOS or Android) applications using React Native in an Agile Scrum environment for 5+ years;
you have proven track record in leading React Native teams for 3+ years;
you have knowledge about Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and familiarity with Agile Process in SDLC;
you focus on the end user, even if it means more development effort;
you're comfortable adapting in a fast changing environment while working well within multiple disciplines;
you have experience with performance testing and profiling mobile applications;
you're comfortable guiding the mobile team through all phases of planning and delivery, scoping and defining work based on problems that can be unclear or ambiguous.
