Director of Product Engineering

We are looking for a Director of Product Engineering to lead our Product Engineering Scrum Teams as they develop product-focused applications that empower both patients and clinicians. This is an ideal opportunity for a leader to work in a high velocity, high-impact environment and cultivate a growing team of bright, passionate engineers.

Our growing Engineering team is composed of over 60 Engineers and nearly 70 members in the overall department from diverse backgrounds in mobile, web, backend, platform, and machine learning. You will be working with individuals who are very passionate about engineering culture and share a growth & learning mindset. Our team is located in New York City, across the US, and around the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to our software engineers in the development of their careers
  • Collaboratively work within the technology organization and other stakeholders to apply the principles of the Agile methodology in developing and executing the product roadmap
  • Continuously improve the process of delivering software at scale
  • Improve the capacity of your teams
  • Partner in technical decision making and provide technical direction to your scrum teams
  • Understand and anticipate the needs of engineering managers to ensure multiple scrum teams are able to perform at their peak.

Must-haves

  • You have 5+ years of overall engineering management experience with recent experience managing 25+ people working in agile scrum teams.
  • Experience managing the development of Healthcare products in an agile environment.
  • Experience in globally integrated teams.
  • Development experience in continuous integration environments (Google Cloud Build, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Extensive experience in cloud-based environments (Google Cloud Platform or similar public cloud)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of database systems (CloudSQL, Atlas, Postgres, MySQL, Mongo) and backend architecture (microservice, SOA, etc)
  • Proven ability to develop KPIs and metrics for our development efforts and improve engineering output.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the intersection of engineering, product, and business development
  • Previous experience building motivated and engineering teams
  • You lead by example to analyze and solve problems and launch software initiatives.
  • You have an "agile mindset" to deliver the highest value work, and break work into sprint increments.
  • Strategic, independent thinker and mentor.

  • You have 2+ years of experience in a Director role.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, etc.

Our tech stack

  • Our frontend is built in React and some Vue.js
  • Our backend is built with Node.js utilizing MongoDB, Postgres, Redis and RabbitMQ
  • Our platform consists of utilizing Kubernetes primarily in GoogleKubernetes Engine (GKE) on Google Cloud Platform
  • We monitor our production environment with DataDog, Sentry, SumoLogic, and PagerDuty
  • Our SDKs are currently available for iOS, Android, React, React Native, Web, and Xamarin

For Colorado, Nevada, and New York-based employment: In accordance with the Pay Transparency laws the pay range for this position is $170,701 to $210,900. The compensation package may include stock options, plus a range of medical, dental, vision, financial, generous PTO, stipends for professional development, and wellness benefits. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. The range listed only applies to Colorado, Nevada, and New York.
