About the role:
Flatiron Health has built an integrated real-world data engine that is unparalleled in its depth and accuracy and gives our life science partners the capability to ask questions about data that weren't answerable until now. Our Quantitative Sciences team leads the scientific research, data delivery and analytical solutions to help our partners answer these questions and unlock the utility of our data for the benefit of cancer patients.
We are looking for a Director-level leader with deep expertise in healthcare-related quantitative research, experience applying real world data for drug development and access and who is excited to make an immediate impact in a critical space. This position requires outstanding problem-solving, analytical, communication and leadership skills; experience with (people) managing quantitative/data scientists at various levels; and the drive to lead key organizational initiatives while overseeing the execution of deliverables by team members in a timely and high-quality fashion. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team of leaders including medical oncologists, product managers, regulatory affairs specialists, software engineers and customer account leaders to build our R&D roadmap as well as help develop, commercialize, and deliver our data and analytics products.

What you'll do:
- Oversee data and analytic deliverables, including sign-off on requirements, analysis plans and reports, and ensure adherence to data quality standards
- Oversee and contribute to strategic and analytical roadmaps of R&D initiatives
- Leverage statistical, epidemiological and outcomes research subject matter expertise, as well as a solid understanding of our data models and RWD-appropriate analytic methods, to provide guidance on endpoint development, integration of new data types for research and commercialization, and appropriateness of different analytical strategies
- Sponsor key initiatives focussed on driving efficiency and sustainability in our daily work, including efficient infrastructure, process improvements, and optimal resourcing strategies
- People manage (as first and second manager) key teams of scientists within the QS organization
- Coach and provide career and technical mentorship to direct reports, including
- Enable and unblock QS members to be accountable for assessing project feasibility, developing and executing SAPs, and presenting results to cross-disciplinary audiences
- Evaluate QS resourcing needs for current and future projects in collaboration with cross-disciplinary leadership
- Ensure adherence to business processes, encourage consistent approaches across QS and the broader business with respect to analyses, ensure data quality standards and enforce best scientific practices
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with other QS managers for functional initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary stakeholders (e.g., medical oncologists, product managers, software engineers) on delivering business and scientific initiatives
- Lead Flatiron in technical/statistical/analytical discussions with our external stakeholders (including life science companies, regulatory agencies, academic institutions and health technology assessment bodies), building and developing strong relationships with them
- Provide internal and external outreach through scientific publications, and presentations at internal and external scientific forums/conferences
About you:
You are an analytical thinker with experience using real-world data in drug development and/or market access. You are excited by the prospect of rolling up your sleeves to tackle meaningful problems each and every day. You are a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who seeks and gives candid feedback, and values the chance to make an important impact.
- You hold a PhD in a quantitative discipline such as biostatistics, epidemiology, applied statistics, health economics, or a related discipline, with at least 5-6 years of relevant industry experience (post PhD)
- Alternatively, you hold a Masters in one of the quantitative disciplines aforementioned and at least 8 years of relevant industry experience
- You have experience collaborating with researchers in the life science industry, academia, or government agencies
- You enjoy being a people manager, and are a natural teacher; you have a passion for mentoring and coaching those of various backgrounds and levels of experience
- You have the ability to juggle multiple internal and external interactions and deadlines simultaneously, and the adaptability to collaborate with individuals at all levels and disciplines
- You have excellent written and oral communication skills and a deep attention to detail
- You are independent, self-motivated, self-directed and proactive
- You can represent the data and analysis strategy, and get in the technical weeds to explain it to our customers
