Senior Product Designer, Interoperability

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to help us accomplish our mission to improve lives by learning from the experience of every cancer patient. Here's what you need to know about the role, our team and why Flatiron Health is the right next step in your career.

What You'll Do

We are looking for a product designer who is excited about leveraging system thinking to enable community practices to deliver better care through interoperability.

In healthcare, one of the biggest challenges in care delivery is the fragmentation of patient data. Historically, different systems inconsistently categorize data, making it impossible for the provider to piece together a full picture of their patients, which negatively impacts overall practice efficiency and patient outcomes. Within the past two years, regulation has pushed the reality of healthcare interoperability and patient data access to a new level.

In this role, you will join our Data & Interoperability Initiative with OncoEMR, our Electronic Health Record. You will focus on what a great integrated ecosystem looks like for our largest community oncology practices in the modern digital healthcare landscape. Your systematic design thinking will help envision a product-driven and customer-focused approach to solving user problems through interoperable solutions. You will design holistic solutions and services that empower our teams to serve our practices via real-time API integrations. You will accelerate our user research efforts to understand the barrier and opportunities of data exchange and FHIR API adoption. You will partner with the product team to envision a 3rd party vendor ecosystem by integrating analyses of user needs and building prototypes that communicate these ideas clearly to stakeholders. In addition, you'll also:

  • Help inform user-centered roadmap decisions that speak to the interoperability needs for our strategic customers. identify common denominators and opportunities for standardization. Create artifacts such as user journey maps to visually highlight the user needs/pains due to existing interoperability gaps
  • Clarify the needs on end-to-end collaboration workflows between practices, hospitals and other 3rd party vendors to improve patient time to treatment and/or auto-imported patient records
  • Uncover the path to transition our integration team from a reactive custom solution shop to a proactive high-functioning service offering. Propose touch points and UX opportunities where 3rd party vendors can better integrate with OncoEMR using API capabilities and find relevant opportunities to deliver added value and become part of our solution ecosystem.
  • Build an in-depth understanding of how practices can use integrated data to improve their operations, and build the right solutions to solve these problems and help practices achieve improved outcomes at scales.

Who You Are

You're a senior designer with experience in service, product or UX design. You're excited by the prospect of rolling up your sleeves to tackle meaningful problems each and every day. You’re a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who seeks and gives candid feedback, and values the chance to make an important impact.

  • You are a systems thinker, with an appetite to dig into complex design challenges by leveraging quantitative and qualitative research
  • You have strong knowledge and experience of service design methodologies, such as service blueprinting, journey mapping, information flow mapping, and service prototyping
  • You have the ability to design at various levels of zoom, from interactions and touch-points to products and services to end-to-end journeys
  • You have prior experience in service design, applied product design, user experience design
  • You have excellent communication skills and prior experience working with executive stakeholders

If this sounds like you, you'll fit right in at Flatiron.
