Director, Product Management

The Director, Product Management creates, develops, and communicates strategic plan to deliver new features, enhancements, or new products from conception to launch for the most complex product portfolio. Manages a team of Product Managers to drive execution of product plan. Identifies market opportunities and defines Bank vision, strategy, and value proposition for a large product portfolio. Provides direction to and mentors Product Managers. Supports relationships with business partners at the highest level. Understanding of industry trends allows the Director Product Management to predict business partner needs and to influence the direction of Bank products. Ensures business partner satisfaction. Responsible for providing the best return on investment. Accountable for high-level economic decision-making considering budget, time and quality for the entire product portfolio. Ensures continuous growth in product value to existing and potential customers and identifies new value-generating opportunities. Oversees creation of long-term product development roadmaps to guide teams.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Creates the vision and sets goals across the product portfolio
  • Ensures alignment of projects with overall Bank strategy
  • Drives Bank product strategy with strong market knowledge
  • Removes barriers for Project Managers at the Bank level
  • Provides direction for Project Managers and advises Executive Management on industry trends or issues of significance
  • Oversees product roadmap for the entire product portfolio
  • Collaborates with Product Managers to ensure they are always working on the most impactful projects
  • Communicates product strategy and direction to Senior Management Committee, President’s Council, and business partners
  • Effectively presents subject matter to all levels of management
  • May design and present webinars to inform business partners and other stakeholders
  • Manages budget and is responsible for managing a team of Product Managers

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience. Master’s degree in related field or MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of overall work experience with a strong background in software development or project or product management
  • Prior management experience required
  • Strong knowledge of Banking industry required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with all project stakeholders
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to build alliances and orchestrate interdisciplinary teams
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies is strongly preferred
  • Expert knowledge of the industry and marketplace, the competition and future trends effecting the banking systems and products
  • Able to apply the knowledge to create and drive product vision and strategy
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong management skills and ability to motivate others
