Director, Quality & Food Safety Industrialization

About the job

This position will work within Danone’s Quality & Food Safety Department and cross functionally within our Design to Deliver Organization. The primary responsibility is to ensure Quality and Food Safety standards and requirements are designed and integrated into the industrialization process for all products and processes. This role will lead a team of professionals responsible for mitigating risk through application of scientific principles and employment of technical experience in Food Safety and Quality. This individual will represent the QFS function within the D2D organization through partnerships with the Commercialization and Technical Excellence, R&I, C&P, Operations and Business Unit functions.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly manage and lead a team of technical professionals who manage QFS on all projects in the portfolio including innovation, renovation, sourcing and business continuity.
  • Manage team developmental plans and performance issues.
  • Develop, manage, and improve on key performance metrics.
  • Lead as key point of contact for project portfolio decisions in respect to QFS concerns.
  • Partner cross functionally to ensure that QFS is built into all processes
  • Build and grow Design to Delivery relationships and strengthen ways of working.
  • Lead change and improve ways of working
  • Mitigate risk through application of scientific principles, technical experience and employment of Quality and Food Safety Standards
  • Troubleshoot problems associated with product and process industrialization across all facilities; ensure root cause / corrective actions are appropriate and are fully implemented.
  • Collaborate with internal functions including Cycles & Procurement, Research & Innovation, Environmental Health and Safety, Sustainability, Regulatory, Food Safety, Project Management, Operations and Commercialization & Industrialization to deliver products to the market that meet Danone’s standards
  • Develop partnerships with global functional peers and participate cross WBU as applicable.
  • Deliver Danone Quality & Food Safety Compliance and improvement across the manufacturing network
  • Utilize Six Sigma, Lean, and/or other continuous improvement concepts to improve quality, efficiency, and waste.
  • Stay current with all regulatory and certifying agency guidelines. Manage regulatory issues across 3PM network.
  • All other duties as assigned.

TRAVEL: Estimated at 25%-50%


The base compensation range for this position is $128,000-192,000 commensurate with experience. About you

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science/Food Science/Technology or similar major.
  • 10+ years combined experience with food, ingredients quality and manufacturing
  • Prior responsibility as QA Manager/Engineer for a food manufacturing facility

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Expert understanding of Quality Systems, Food Safety, Quality Assurance and Food Regulations
  • People management experience including coaching, performance reviews, and career development
  • Ability to understand technical and engineering concepts
  • Experience in Danone Product and Process categories
  • Experience in Project Management and Stage Gate processes
  • Ability to work under deadlines, with multiple priorities
  • Ability to work cross-functionally within organization
  • Must be adaptable and flexible
  • Self-driven, results oriented, able to work independently
  • Ability to work with confidential materials
  • Excellent communication / presentation skills
  • Excellent record keeping / documentation skills
  • Detail oriented.
  • Able to quickly learn new systems, tools, and programs

NONESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Trained in SQF or FSSC (GFSI) auditing schemes.
  • Project Management Certification
  • Prior experience with Consumer Affairs and/or Customer Service in CPG company
  • Working knowledge of SAP and/or similar ERP databases
  • Previous experience in Food or Food Packaging Research and Innovation
