JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Release Train Engineer (Delivery Lead) facilitates enterprise-wide platform teams to drive continuous development, acts as a chief scrum master, and coaches’ teams to scale lean digital product development and Agile software development. This role will partner with product managers and technical leaders to define the enterprise strategy, related platform roadmap, and lead the teams in platform teams in execution.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the teams in the creation of the overall product platform delivery strategy.
  • Clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical clients and stakeholders.
  • Lead team to translate and prioritize business needs into platform requirements.
  • Set up tools and processes to facilitate communication and collaboration between team members.
  • Mentor and coach junior members across the business.
  • Bring global teams together for one goal.
  • The Program Increment (PI) is a timeframe during which an Agile release train delivers incremental value in the form of working software and systems that have been properly tested. This is the equivalent of an iteration in Agile software development. RTEs must create and communicate the annual calendars for iterations and PIs; facilitate PI planning and readiness; and summarize the PI objectives and publish them to provide visibility and transparency.
  • Act as the Agile RTE/Scrum Master for enterprise-wide platform teams.
  • Generate metrics for the scrum teams.
  • Support product owners with various requirements gathering and scrum activities.
  • Actively participate in guild(s) in SAFe and Agile practices.
  • Create an environment that facilitates positive team health as well as provide guidance and management to all workers to ensure goals are met.
  • Coach team members and other stakeholders in SAFe and Agile practices.
  • Coach enablement team.
  • Teach their teams, leaders and scrum masters about the combination of Lean and Agile management practices and ideologies.
  • Monitor and report the success of the Agile release train.
  • Manage budget for digital platform teams.
  • Work with management to ensure smooth rollout of SAFe and Agile to the organization, including providing input and direction to help establish department standards and procedures.
  • Help with team adoption of development and departmental best practices and processes related to SAFe.
  • Provide release train engineer support services including, but not limited to, coordinating the teams from a product standpoint to help ensure that multiple teams working on the same release product and features plan and execute as a single release train, identifying and managing risks, facilitating release planning meetings, supporting the scrum of scrums, and resolving and escalating impediments.
  • Facilitates ART level ceremonies such as PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, Sprint Demos, Inspect and Adapt
  • Create retrospective improvement roadmaps by analyzing all activities and actions that have previously been performed and finding ways to improve each process.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree (BS/BA) in in Information Systems or Management, Statistics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or Engineering, or relevant industry experience. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Understanding of business intelligence strategy and/or data science and engineering workflows.
  • Experience with SaFe, modern Agile and digital product development.
  • SAFe release train engineer certification.
  • Experience in transformation from waterfall to Agile in a healthcare related field.
  • Experience with managing enterprise-wide platform technologies.
  • Experience leading a high performing team and working across multiple stakeholders to deliver results while educating and growing team members. Global experience is preferred.
  • Experience with roadmap, issue and backlog management systems like Azure DevOps or Jira.
  • Experience with design tools.
  • Understanding of data and analytic model development, as well as an understanding of database concepts and architecture, as well as common analytic coding languages (Python, R, Scala, or Java).
  • Clear, precise communication of technical concepts to lay audiences, while also possessing the ability to translate business rules and directives into technical specifications.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $120,960 to $255,400. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
