The Job

As the Engineering leader of our Building Automation Business Unit, you will manage the team that delivers our core Building Automation Software. You will push the industry forward by enhancing energy efficiency, reducing commissioning & maintenance costs, and extending asset lifespans.

You're an experienced software engineer and manager, with a passion for organizational development and people growth. You will manage project goals, contribute to product strategy, drive architecture decisions, and design IoT solutions that solve real problems for Turntide customers. You will guide your team towards operating with speed and effectiveness, while building a group of world-class software engineers located in the Americas and India.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver meaningful product enhancements and own the automation BU's technical engineering decisions
Participate in product discovery calls to build and execute development roadmaps across several product families. You will have the explicit responsibility to help the product manager and product designer discover a strong solution.
Ensure high availability of cloud infrastructure powering the Building Automation Platform.
Lead the development of infrastructure that improves the testability of the platform.
Collaborate on technical roadmaps to prioritize and address technical debt, while balancing the need to deliver new innovations and meet existing customer expectations.
Implement development methodologies to increase the productivity of empowered cross-functional product development teams.
Demonstrate processes for implementing code quality policies and peer review requirements that ensure code is well documented and meets standardized requirements of quality for unit test coverage and maintainability.
Engineering Leader for Scrum and/or Kanban activities such as daily standups, Backlog Refinements and Planning

The Requirements

8+ years work experience in software roles, with 4+ years in management
Released & maintained IoT products, preferably in the Building Automation domain
Comfortable leading a distributed team spread across multiple time zones
Knowledgeable in distributed systems, APIs, cloud computing, and scalability
Experience programming in Python, or willingness & ability to learn quickly
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Degree in CS or understanding of Computer Science fundamentals

Bonus Points

Work experience in the Building Automation industry
Understanding of BAS protocols like BACnet, Modbus, DNET
Understanding of IoT related protocols like MQTT and Kafka
Exposure to different agile modalities & methodologies
Hands-on experience with GCP, Kubernetes, IaC, observability, and monitoring
Developed & maintained production quality front-ends
Delivered products that simplify timeseries analysis and data visualizations
Contributed to hardware products or embedded systems

The exact salary offered to a new hire will vary and will be based on a number of factors including skills, education, along with depth of experience. Hires that meet the expectations outlines in the role can expect an offer near the 50th percentile listed below.

$180,000—$250,000 USD
