Summary:

Our partners are other organizations that rely on us to develop and grow a branded credit card program that will support the partner’s business. The Store Engagement Director will play a key leadership role, leading field associates supporting several key retail partners in stores. You will be a part of a team with world-class professionals to develop, test and implement strategies that ultimately impact the bottom line. And you'll do it all in a collaborative environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibility, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovation.

This dynamic leadership role will be responsible for achieving objectives for the organization and partner, recruiting, training and managing a field-based team and day-to-day leadership of multiple programs. Capital One is open to hiring a Remote Employee for this opportunity.


General Responsibilities:

  • Provide sales & client development leadership and direction and program management across multiple partners

  • Build a dynamic sales and customer development culture that compliments the broader store engagement strategy and assist their team in achieving their productivity and account acquisition goals

  • Participate in strategic / tactical planning process with the client teams to drive in-store program growth and exceed the client needs

  • Develop strong relationships with our partners and influence them to reach mutually beneficial outcomes to our joint business problems

  • Prepare and deliver regular financial and performance updates to senior leadership

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitor’s products and pricing in the market served

  • Travel up to 70% is required for this role


Skills and Competencies:

  • Strategic: the candidate will have a proven track record of making holistic assessments of our current state, defining an end state vision, and the audacity to articulate the path to get there. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong orientation towards continuous improvement, given the complexity of our execution environment.

  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills.

  • Strong judgment, leadership and integrity: the candidate should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a responsible approach to business while in a leadership position guiding execution resources.

  • Clear results orientation: focused on achieving both short and long-term goals. He/she should be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment while overseeing multiple projects and programs concurrently.

  • Successful track record managing field teams, including recruiting, training, and coaching


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience

  • At least 10 years of field or external sales experience with national territory management responsibilities

  • At least 5 years experience in retail partnerships

  • At least 5 years of people management experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA Degree

  • At least 3 years of experience in a sales leadership role

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Location is New York City: $202,400 - $231,000 for Director, Client Development

Location is San Francisco, California: $214,500 - $244,800 for Director, Client Development

Remote roles in other areas of New York & California, and across Colorado & Washington: $171,600 - $195,800 for Director, Client Development

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
