Position Summary/Impact:

Akoya Biosciences is seeking an experienced and proven Supply chain and fulfillment leader with a relentless focus on customer satisfaction and operational improvement to oversee several critical operational functions for a growing Life Sciences Tools manufacturing company with complex reagent and instrument technologies, an extensive product portfolio, and world-wide customer base. The Director of Supply Chain and Fulfillment, through individual efforts and the management of subordinate staff, is responsible for direct operational management/oversight of the end-to-end supply chain networks that supports commercialization of Akoya’s products including existing CMOs and the integration of new suppliers. This position is also responsible for final order fulfillment globally. They will also be responsible for all purchasing activities including creating purchasing and supplier management policies, agreements, and procedures. Functional responsibility includes all aspects of purchasing and supplier management, production planning and scheduling and inventory control, as well as all fulfillment activities. The ideal candidate will be an innovative leader with a depth of experience in supply chain management as well as experience in Lean Manufacturing principles.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary point of accountability for distribution and inventory control activities, including production planning/scheduling, CMO oversight (selection and management), issue resolution, scope change and change implementation.
    • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to material procurement within the Akoya supply chain.
    • Transactional responsibilities for customer order fulfillments for Instruments and Reagents
    • Organizes, supervises, and directs the personnel responsible for CMO management and procurement.
    • Implement Supply Chain planning, forecasting and master scheduling processes based on forecasting from product management and other internal sources.
    • Control’s maintenance and accuracy of data in ERP system.
    • Develops a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
  • Rationalize supplier selection process and consolidate supply chain as need to maximize cost effectiveness, increase customer experience and satisfaction and improve efficiencies for inventory control and distribution.
    • Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
    • Negotiates or supervises the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
    • Recruits and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
  • Conduct business reviews and monitor supplier performance metrics. Routinely monitor key performance indicators (KPI’s) to drive operational and economic performance improvement. Coordinate with Supplier Quality as needed for audits and corrective actions.
  • Integrate serialization activities across CMOs and 3PLs service providers.
  • Interact closely with cross-functional internal and external teams.
  • Actively participate as integral member of the Product Launch Team(s)
  • Manage fully integrated launch planning activities with internal stakeholders and global third-party supply chain partners.
  • Author policies, procedures, and applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • BS in a scientific or technical discipline with 10+ years of supply chain and vendor management experience, preferably in a regulated cGMP environment.
  • Direct successful experience overseeing national and international suppliers, contract manufacturers, and commercial contract packaging and labeling organizations in the life sciences reagent and instrumentation field.
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems and ability to use data to monitor organizational health and systems to solve problems and drive efficiencies. Experienced in implementing ERP systems is highly preferred.
  • Highly strategic with a demonstrated experience building scalable processes and systems designed to enable and support a high-growth environment in a life sciences company.
  • Ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible and detail oriented with a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated, assertive, and results-oriented with the ability to act with urgency and passion.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a high level of productivity, innovation, and priority-setting.
  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of current Good Manufacturing and documentation Practices (cGMPs and cGDPs) as well as experience in FDA regulated and ISO certified environments is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Project (or equivalent), ERP and documentation systems.

The hiring range for this position is $168,000 to $231,000 per year, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus (or a sales incentive plan) and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
